Here’s How You Can Manage Server Congestion Issues for FFXIV: Endwalker’s Launch

With just about a week to go before the launch of the new Endwalker expansion for Final Fantasy XIV, Square Enix has released a new post detailing some of the server issues players will likely encounter when the expansion is released. It’s not uncommon for MMORPGs to experience high login queues and congestion, and with all the exciting new content coming in Endwalker, players will need to get ready for that as well.

First off, Square Enix advises players to have their characters created and ready to go before launch, as you won’t be able to create new characters in congested worlds. This shouldn’t be an issue for longtime fans and veterans, but new players should be aware.

Instanced duties and areas will also come into play here. We saw instanced areas in Shadowbringers, where highly populated zones were divided into a few different instances to avoid congestion. Players may also experience queues when trying to load into a solo duty as part of the main story.

Square Enix goes on to state that because of the global semiconductor shortage, they were unable to add new worlds or servers to the game before Endwalker’s launch, but this is something they will continue to consider going forward. Players will have the option to log into another world on the Data Center their character is in, however, so this is a method that they can consider if they’re experience long queue times.

Finally, the game will continue to enforce its auto-kick system for players who have been idle for too long, which will hopefully allow more players to get in.

Final Fantasy XIV is now available on PC and PlayStation, and Endwalker is set to be released on Dec. 7.
