If you regularly played games throughout the 1990s and 2000s, then you likely remember the Duke Nukem Forever fiasco. Announced back in 1997, Duke Nukem Forever became infamous for its longtime development hell status. It stayed in development for a whopping 14 years, and by the time it finally came out in 2011, fans and critics did not come away impressed. That said, many fans remain fascinated by its development history, especially since it went through several different builds that were ultimately scrapped. Interestingly, fans recently managed to leak the 2001 build of Duke Nukem Forever, and they plan to publicly release this build sometime in June.
The leakers uncovered several screenshots as well as a few gameplay videos that show the 2001 build in action. Those who remember the trailer of this build from E3 2001 will probably recognize the low-poly look of the leaked gameplay, which will likely make this never-before-seen footage feel all the more surreal.
