Call Of Duty: Warzone Popularity Grows As It Surpasses Another Milestone

After a little more than a week on the market, Infinity Ward and Raven Software’s standalone battle royale experience Call of Duty: Warzone has surpassed more than 30 million players across all platforms.

This news comes not long after Infinity Ward introduced a dedicated Solo mode to the free-to-play game. While there was a way to play Warzone all by yourself, and we definitely didn’t recommend it at the time, the battle royale game now allows players to go one-on-one against 149 other combatants. The current 150-player count could increase to 200 at some point, according to Infinity Ward.

Earlier this week, Infinity Ward announced that Warzone saw more than 15 million people playing the game on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. When Warzone first launched on March 10, publisher Activision said the game was downloaded more than six million times worldwide in its first 24 hours.

Senior Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad brought up Apex Legends and Fortnite’s numbers for context. According to Ahmad, Apex Legends surpassed 25 million players after one week and Fortnite saw 10 million players after two weeks. Warzone looks like it’s on track to becoming one of the most popular battle royale games to date.

We awarded the game a 7/10 in our Call of Duty: Warzone review, saying, “If you’re comfortable with Call of Duty’s latest iteration of multiplayer antics and thrive in the stressful setting of battle royales, Warzone is a strong contender for your attention.”
