Can you catch Shiny Oshawott in Pokémon GO?

Up to this point, it has remained impossible for trainers to add Shiny Oshawott their collections in the immensely popular augmented-reality mobile video game. Thankfully, starting next month, that is all set to change as Shiny Oshawott will make its first Pokémon GO appearance in all of its powder blue glory.

On Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021, Shiny Oshawott will be making its Pokémon GO debut with the launch of the September Community Day event.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time that day, the Sea Otter Pokémon from the Unova region will not only be appearing more frequently in the wild, but players will be able to encounter its rare Shiny form form for the first time.

Aside from its powder blue coat, the Shiny version of the water-type Pokémon stands out from the rest of the crowd thanks to its magenta nose, off-white head and arms, and teal ears, feet and tail.

Of course, actually finding a Shiny Oshawott will take a lot of patience and luck, but at least trainers will now know if they have a chance in the first place.

During the event or up to two hours afterward, trainers will also be able to evolve Dewott (Oshawott’s Evolution) to get a Samurott that knows the Charged Attack Hydro Cannon. Samurott will now also be able to learn the Charged Attack Razor Shell. This attack will be available for Samurott to learn even after the event has concluded.
