Dignitas connects with ExpressVPN as newest partner

American organisation Dignitas has announced a partnership with virtual private network (VPN) provider ExpressVPN to provide internet security services to its players.

ExpressVPN will secure Dignitas players’ internet connections and provide defensive measures against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks while competing and streaming

James Baker, General Manager of Dignitas, commented in a release: “In an age where all of our competitions are played entirely online, there has never been a more important time for online security and stability. We’re proud to partner with ExpressVPN to safeguard our team from unwanted outages and ping spikes while ensuring each competitor’s connection uses the maximum bandwidth available.”

The companies will also collaborate on branded YouTube content about the benefits of using a VPN service. The content will be posted to Dignitas’ own channels, as well as those of its players and streamers.

Harold Li, Vice President at ExpressVPN, added: “Whether you’re competing in esports, streaming shows, working from home, or simply just browsing online, online privacy and security are more critical now than ever. We’re delighted to be able to work with Dignitas to ensure more people are aware of how they can protect themselves online and stay connected safely and reliably.”

Competing VPN service HideMyAss recently announced a new partnership with Fnatic’s League of Legends academy team, as well as a renewed deal with Warthox Esport. In just the last few weeks, Dignitas has welcomed a pair of other sponsors: RESPAWN by Razer and SIG.

Esports Insider says: A VPN partnership makes a lot of sense right now with nearly everyone competing and streaming from home. It’ll be interesting to see if more VPN services enter the industry in the coming months.
