OpTic Gaming supposedly changing up roster before CDL New York

One of the most turbulent Call of Duty League teams is reportedly making a huge change late into the season. According to reports from insiders, OpTic Gaming Los Angeles plans to bench superstar Brandon “Dashy” Otell. Along with this, reports state that they have benched Martin “Chino” Cheen as well. In their place, it’s suspected that OpTic wants to sign two amateur players from UYU. While this strategy has worked out for other CDL teams this year, some believe it’s too late for a major roster change.

OpTic benches Dashy and Chino?

The story around OpTic Gaming L.A. in the CDL has been a rollercoaster. The roster started out extremely poor, failing to win many maps, let alone matches. However, after a roster move that left Jordan “Jkap” Kaplan on the bench, the team turned things around.

In fact, OpTic managed to make it to a grand final on one occasion. This success was short-lived, though, as they returned to their losing ways quickly after. This led to the organization firing its head coach, Jonathan “Pacman” Tucker. Now, apparently, it has led to more drastic measures.

According to insider @IntelCallofDuty, OpTic aims to sign two amateur players in place of Dashy and Chino. The reasons behind Dashy and Chino’s benching remain unknown, but clearly OpTic has seen other teams have success with amateur players. They now hope to imitate that strategy.

The amateur players in question are Zack ‘Drazah’ Jordan and Darien ‘Hollow’ Chverchko, both from UYU. These two players have found success playing in CDL Challengers, finishing highly in most open events. However, many question whether they are an upgrade over someone like Dashy.

Of course, these reports aren’t confirmed by official sources, but we can still take them somewhat seriously. The roster lock deadline for CDL teams was yesterday, so we’ll likely see confirmation of this news later today or tomorrow. If the reports turn out to be accurate, we’ll get to see both Drazah and Hollow play their first matches at the New York Home Series starting on July 10.
