13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is coming to Switch in 2022

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is going to be released on Nintendo Switch, Atlus has confirmed. The date of the release will be April 22nd, 2022. 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim was first released as a PS4 exclusive back in 2019 in Japan, before going worldwide in 2020, and has grown quite the cult following for its story and gameplay. The game was meant to be released on PS Vita too but that version was cancelled. The PS4 version has recently passed the 500,000 sales mark worldwide. No doubt there will be a decent boost when the Switch version arrives.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim is based following some catalysmic events in which 13 high school students must face off against Kaiju while piloting mechs. The game features a non linear narrative allowing players to control each of the characters to build the relationships between them. The battles are played out as a real time strategy in which six characters defend against Kaiju until the objective is met. Some of the additional key features include:

•  Beautifully rendered in Vanillaware’s signature hand-painted visual style
• Uncover a deep story through visions of the past and the future
• The doomsday clock is ticking. Become a Sentinel pilot, customize your mech, and fight waves of kaiju in top-down tactical combat

Mixing the strengths of Vanillaware’s art with time-travel adventures is a recipe for huge success. A story ambitious enough to have thirteen different protagonists seems bound for failure, yet the game manages to make each story not only incredibly impactful on its own, but adds up to a bigger, brighter and utterly unforgettable narrative. The addictive tactical gameplay that strings these story scenes together, despite a strange artstyle, is just icing on the already massive and delicious cake.”
