Here are some of our favorite moments from the competitive CSGO scene in 2020.

Top Weapon: AK-47

Was this much of a surprise to many? The AK47 has been the staple gun for competitive CSGO. According to HLTV, the AK has been the most used gun every year since 2012. This year, the gun ranks it at 33.33% of all kills in the calendar year, which is the lowest it has been since 2014. That being said all of the best players in the world still opt into this wonderful gun. While it can be difficult for beginners to master, watching the best players in the world use this gun is truly a spectacle.

Most Played CSGO Map: Inferno

Inferno comes in as the most played map of the year with 974times. Since it’s revision in 2016 Inferno has been a popular map for the competitive scene. This map heavily favors the terrorist side which is great for teams who enjoy playing on the aggressive.

Highest Rated CSGO Player: ZywOo and S1mple

Two players share the spotlight for the highest-rated player of the year. ZywOo from Team Vitality and S1mple from Natus Vincere both receive the title as the best player in the world at the end of the 2020 season. Both players had a 1.29 HLTV player rating. Both Vitality and Astralis have been extremely dominant with the pair often going to battle in various CSGO tournaments.

Highest KD of 2020: S1mple

S1mple ended the year was the best KD throughout the calendar year. The CSGO superstar racked up an impressive 1.42 KD over the year. This is simply stunning from a player who has not even hit his best years yet. S1mple currently holds the record for the best KD in a single year which was in 2018 when he had a 1.49 KD.

Most Maps Played: ForZe

The CIS side Forze comes in first place for the most maps played in a single year. Forze racked in an astounding 317 maps played with Sprout trailing behind them in second place at 252 maps played. While they are a decent rank on the power rankings, Forze has struggled this year to convincingly take down teams that are much worse than them, often leading to a three-game series.

Highest Round Win Rate: Astralis

This will come to no surprise to many as Astralis comes in wit the best round win rate for 2020. The Danish powerhouse rocked an impressive 58.5% win rate on their CT rounds. Astralis has been clinical in their play and these statistics help showcase why they are the best team in the world right now.

Best Kill:Death Differential: Sh1ro

Gambit Esports Sh1ro comes in first place for the best kill: death differential. The Russian CSGO player was extremely impressive with a difference of +1742. This can be pointed out that Sh1ro benefited from playing far more CSGO matches this year compared to S1mple. If you took those away or maintained S1mples rate and he would have won.

Best Pistol Team: Espada

Aspada makes a surprise entrance into this article with the CSGO side having the best pistol rounds in the world. The CIS side has a win percentage of 56% over the entire year which is extremely impressive. This comes even against the best teams in the world, where they have struggled is converting these victories into latter round wins. Speaking of converting, Heroic has the best round two win after winning the first pistol round at 83%.

Gla1ve Reigns Supreme as King of Flashbangs

Flashbangs have always played a pivotal role in rounds of CSGO with the equipment being used often as bait but also to momentarily blind their opponents which give players the tactical advantage. Astralis’s Gla1ve was the best use of the Flashbang with 0.98 being thrown per round while also blinding his opponent more than himself being blinded at 1.03 seconds.
