Fantasy football season is getting closer and closer. Every year millions of people play fantasy and with that comes the prep work to make sure that every draft is one that can produce a champion. This article will go through and show what happened in an ESPN 2022 fantasy football mock draft and analyze the results. This is for a 10-team, standard-scoring league. Here is the 2022 fantasy football mock draft: July edition.
Team 1
Roster: QB Tom Brady, RB Derrick Henry, RB Saquon Barkley, WR Mike Evans, WR Jaylen Waddle, TE Dawson Knox, RB Josh Jacobs, D/ST Cowboys, K Graham Gano, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR Hunter Renfrow, WR Brandon Aiyuk, RB Rhamondre Stevenson, RB Michael Carter, RB Raheem Mostert, WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Team 1 has a solid roster if the running backs can stay healthy. Over the last few years, Henry, Barkley and Jacobs all have had injury issues. What makes it worse is that there is not anyone else on the roster who gets a majority of the workload out of the backfield on the roster. This team can make the playoffs, as they are great in other positions, but running back health is the big question mark.
Team 2
Roster: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Jonathan Taylor, RB Leonard Fournette, WR CeeDee Lamb, WR Terry McLaurin, TE George Kittle, WR Michael Pittman Jr., D/ST 49ers, K Matt Prater, WR Devonta Smith, WR Drake London, WR Kadarius Toney, RB Ken Walker III, WR Tyler Boyd, RB James Cook, WR Robby Anderson
Team 2 has some star power with Lamar Jackson and Jonathan Taylor. The receivers and tight end are solid. Running back depth is an issue, especially if Leonard Fournette doesn’t get into shape. One of this team’s rookie running backs needs to work out for this team to be successful.
Team 3
Roster: QB Josh Allen, RB David Montgomery, RB Antonio Gibson, WR Justin Jefferson, WR Mike Williams, TE T.J. Hockenson, WR Jerry Jeudy, D/ST Buccaneers, K Nick Folk, WR Darnell Mooney, WR Michael Thomas, WR Chris Olave, QB Matthew Stafford, WR Kenny Golladay, TE Hunter Henry, TE Irv Smith Jr.
Team 3 is loaded at wide receiver, but it is because they completely ignored the running back position after their first two. This team went on auto draft and will have to pay the consequences.
Team 4
Roster: QB Kyler Murray, RB Austin Ekeler, RB J.K. Dobbins, WR Stefon Diggs, WR Gabriel Davis, TE Mark Andrews, RB A.J. Dillon, D/ST Saints, K Brandon McManus, WR Adam Thielen, RB Tony Pollard, TE Dallas Goedert, WR Russell Gage, RB Ronald Jones II, WR Jahan Dotson, TE Noah Fant
Team 4 has a solid starting lineup and at least one good wide receiver and running back on the bench. On top of that, they have one of the best tight ends in Mark Andrews. If Dobbins returns from his injury well and Davis lives up to the hype the team can make the playoffs.
Team 5
Roster: QB Trey Lance, RB James Conner, RB Breece Hall, WR Cooper Kupp, WR Tyreek Hill, TE Darren Waller, RB Elijah Mitchell, D/ST Ravens, K Daniel Carlson, RB Cordarelle Patterson, WR DeAndre Hopkins, RB Kareem Hunt, WR Christian Kirk, WR Jakobi Myers, TE Pat Freiermuth, TE Tyler Higbee
Trey Lance is a huge risk at the quarterback position, but if it pays off, this team can win. The running back depth is good, while the wide receivers on the roster have star power. The team hinges on Lance’s play this season.
Team 6
Roster: QB Dak Prescott, RB Christian McCaffrey, RB Nick Chubb, WR Diontae Johnson, WR Brandin Cooks, TE Kyle Pitts, RB Ezekiel Elliott, D/ST Steelers, K Evan McPherson, WR Elijah Moore, WR Rashod Bateman, RB Chase Edmonds, RB Melvin Gordon III, WR Skyy Moore, RB Marlon Mack, WR Marvin Jones Jr.
Team 6 is loaded at running back, as long as McCaffrey can stay healthy. The wide receiver position is very weak and could cost this team. Johnson’s production could be in question, as he has a new quarterback. Cooks is always solid, but likely won’t be a league-winner. This team needs to trade running backs for more impactful wide receivers.
Team 7
Roster: QB Jalen Hurts, RB Joe Mixon, RB Alvin Kamara, WR Tee Higgins, WR A.J. Brown, TE Cole Kmet, WR Courtland Sutton, D/ST Colts, K Tyler Bass, RB Travis Etienne Jr., WR Allen Robinson, RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, WR Chase Claypool, RB James Robinson, WR Allen Lazard, WR Mecole Hardman
This team is largely dependent on the Bengals and Eagles having good offenses. The talent and depth are there on this roster, but having a top wide receiver is a question.
Team 8
Roster: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Javonte Williams, RB Miles Sanders, WR Ja’Marr Chase, WR Deebo Samuel, TE Dalton Schultz, WR D.J. Moore, D/ST Commanders, K Harrison Butker, WR Tyler Lockett, WR Treylon Burks, WR Garrett Wilson, QB Derek Carr, WR Jarvis Landry, TE David Njoku, WR Jameson Williams
Unless this team can trade some of their rookie wide receivers for a running back, they will struggle. Another autodraft team destined to fail.
Team 9
Roster: QB Justin Herbert, RB Najee Harris, RB D’Andre Swift, WR Keenan Allen, WR Marquise Brown, TE Mike Gesicki, RB Aaron Jones, D/ST Packers, K Matt Gay, WR Chris Godwin, RB Devin Singletary, QB Aaron Rodgers, QB Russell Wilson, TE Zach Ertz, QB Kirk Cousins, RB Dameon Pierce
Before this team went off rails with the quarterback selections, it was actually built pretty well. There are three great running backs three solid receivers and a star young quarterback. Depth is an issue, but the starting lineup is quality.
Team 10
Roster: QB Joe Burrow, RB Dalvin Cook, RB Cam Akers, WR Davante Adams, WR DK Metcalf, TE Travis Kelce, WR Amari Cooper, D/ST Bills, K Justin Tucker, WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, RB Damien Harris, RB Rashaad Penny, WR Robert Woods, WR Christian Watson, WR DeVante Parker, RB Alexander Mattison
Team 10 has a shot to win the championship. Not only do they have a top-tier running back and wide receiver, they also have Kelce at tight end. The depth is solid and they should be able to win plenty of games.
