2022 LEC Summer W1D2: Rogue Lose Back-to-Back Against an LEC-Undefeated G2

G2 are LEC-undefeated with 14 straight dubs as they roll over a Rogue team who has completely capitulated against a very hard opening set.

G2 vs Rogue

Surely Rogue starting off the Summer Split with back to back L’s can only mean they end up finally winning a split right? Right…?

Well for their sake, I hope it is the case because as of right now they are looking very misaligned against Fnatic and now G2.

A common trend that I’m seeing is Malrang going in very deep and the team not being in position to follow through and commit. It is not a fault on either side, rather, it is the team as a whole not being able to decide whether or not Malrang’s looks are worth committing to.

Comp especially had quite a rough game against the demonic engage threat drafted by G2; he was dying so fast in some of these fights, he never got a chance to use his mobility spells to try and reposition.

It was especially bad in the very last fight near red side Tier 2 turret, where he Galeforces adjacent to three divers on G2 to try and draw aggro and then Flash away, but ends up getting demolished by the excess damage from G2 before he can even accomplish anything.

G2 were spinning on all cylinders with their trademark Wind Brothers + Diana comp, piling on massive long range engage and sustained damage with utility from their weakside bottom lane.

With powerful players like BrokenBlade and Caps piloting these high ceiling champions, G2 were able to outmaneuver Rogue members in skirmishes and teamfights to marginally come out ahead in every single exchange.

Our MVP for this game will be none other than Jankos, for being the traditional glue guy that simply makes him one of the greatest players of all time. I am sure he will be showing up in Odoamne’s nightmares for how much he was diving the poor Rogue top laner over and over again, allowing BrokenBlade’s Yone to accelerate ahead and become an absolute menace.

Jankos’s engages were a primary reason as to why G2 were able to decisively win these big objective fights; he always knew the exact distance his dash + Flash combo could cover, and he basically used it off cooldown to take off Comp’s head before the fight, allowing G2 to roll over the rest of the Rogue members.

MVP: Jankos (1)
