2022 NFL Top 100: 30-21

Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is over, the TGH staff have ranked their top 100 players ahead of the 2022 NFL season. 

Multiple TGH staff members voted on their top 100 players, who were given scores based on their ranks, then sorted by their final score. The players were ranked regardless of position, and the editors broke any ties at their discretion.

Each article in this series will list 10 players at a time, with brief comments on their 2021 performances and what is expected of them in 2022. Make sure to check back every Friday for the next 10 players in our list!

Today, we list and evaluate players 30-21 in our list of the 2022 NFL Top 100.

30. Justin Herbert

Herbert has been in the league for two years and is blossoming into the franchise quarterback the Chargers needed. He found success right off the bat during his rookie year where he threw for over 4,000 yards and 31 touchdowns, leading to him being named the 2020 AP Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Herbert progressed in 2021 and the Chargers to a winning season, although they barely missed the playoffs. He threw for over 5,000 yards and 38 touchdowns and became a Pro Bowler. Herbert has a good chance in 2022 to lead the Chargers to a playoff berth if everything goes right. -Matthew Brown

29. Stefon Diggs

Diggs was a long-time Viking before being traded to the Bills a couple years back, where he has continued to flourish. He is going into the 2022 season with four 1,000 yard receiving seasons in row. In 2020, he led the league in receiving yards with 1,535 yards.

More recently in 2021, Diggs had 1,225 receiving yards and a career high 10 touchdowns. He has earned Pro Bowl bids in his last two seasons in the league and will be looking to have another stellar season in 2022. -Matthew Brown

28. Travis Kelce

Kelce has come a long way from being just a third round tight end drafted out of the University of Cincinnati. He has established himself as a legitimate receiving threat in this league, not just at the tight end position, but overall. In 2021, Kelce finished with over 1,000 yards receiving for the sixth-straight year. He’s also a seven-time Pro Bowler and has been selected to First Team All-Pro three times. Now that Tyreek Hill is gone, he will be the first option on the Chiefs offense, which could boost his yardage numbers even further in 2022. -Ben Hendricks

27. Chris Jones

The Chiefs had Jones playing out of position on the edge to start last season. After they moved him back inside, he proved why he is one of the best defensive linemen in the game. He finished the season with nine sacks and eight tackles for loss, which are both impressive for an interior defensive lineman. -Joe DiTullio

26. Tyron Smith

Smith has battled injuries the last few seasons, but he makes an impact every time he is on the field. It is actually noticeable when he isn’t on the field as the offense is way less effective. He allowed just one sack in 2021 and will be relied upon in 2022 to help the Cowboys in their attempt to repeat as NFC East Champs. -Joe DiTullio

25. Derrick Henry

In 2019 and 2020, Derrick Henry led the entire NFL in rushing attempts, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He was well on his way to doing just that for a third straight year, but played in just eight games due to injury. If he returns and plays in all 17 games this year, Henry will is a virtual lock for a top-three spot at the running back position, simple as that. -Ben Hendricks

24. Joe Burrow

After returning from an ACL injury that ended his 2020 season, Joe Burrow proved why he was the first overall pick and a franchise quarterback. With some help from the defense, Burrow was able to lead the Bengals on an incredible journey to the Super Bowl. With a new and improved offensive line, Burrow has a chance to not only lead the Bengals to success in 2022, but also cement himself as a top five quarterback in the league. -Joe DiTullio

23. A.J. Terrell

Terrell was already pretty good in his rookie season, but made a big jump from 2020 to 2021. He had three picks, 16 defended passes and 81 combined tackles last season. The Falcons are in a bit of a transitional period, but it must be good knowing that one of the outside cornerback spots is solidified. -Ben Hendricks

22. Justin Jefferson

Just two years into his NFL career, Jefferson has racked up 1,400 and 1,616 yards, respectively. He scored 10 touchdowns in 2021 and has emerged as one of the best young receivers in the entire league. The number one option on the Vikings’ offense, there is no reason to believe Jefferson won’t have another 1,000-yard season in 2022. -Ben Hendricks

21. Terron Armstead

Left tackle is one of the most important positions in football, and the Saints have one of the best in the league. Armstead has some trouble staying healthy, but has proven his worth over and over while on the field. He has just two Pro Bowls under his belt, but, again, that is mostly due to his injury history. Any franchise would be lucky to have a blindside blocker like Armstead. -Ben Hendricks
