Now that the 2022 NFL Draft is over, the TGH staff have ranked their top 100 players ahead of the 2022 NFL season.
Multiple TGH staff members voted on their top 100 players, who were given scores based on their ranks, then sorted by their final score. The players were ranked regardless of position, and the editors broke any ties at their discretion.
Each article in this series will list 10 players at a time, with brief comments on their 2021 performances and what is expected of them in 2022. Make sure to check back every Friday for the next 10 players in our list!
Today, we list and evaluate players 80-71 in our list of the 2022 NFL Top 100.
80. Christian McCaffrey
McCaffrey is no doubt a household name at running back, and a fantasy football hero. The reason he falls so low on the 2022 list of the NFL Top 100 is due to injury. He has not been able to stay healthy in the past two seasons, playing just 10 games total. That being said, 65 total touchdowns and over 6,500 yards in just five seasons is no joke. If he stays on the field and plays well next year, expect him to be much higher on our 2023 list. -Ben Hendricks
79. Michael Onwenu
After just one year in the league, Onwenu has played his way onto this list. He was just a sixth round selection in 2020 by the New England Patriots. That specific team has a way of getting the most out of their offensive linemen, but Onwenu took their tutelage and ran with it. Expect him to be one of the best guards in the NFL in 2022. -Ben Hendricks
78. Ryan Jensen
Ryan Jensen moved from the Ravens to the Buccaneers in 2018; a move that earned him a Super Bowl ring in 2020. The next year, he was voted to his first Pro Bowl. Tampa Bay clearly has confidence in him, signing Jensen to a three year extension in 2022. With two offensive linemen leaving Brady and the Bucs, he will need to bring his experience back in a big way for this line to operate at full capacity. -Ben Hendricks
77. Jordan Mailata
Mailata may not seem to be one of the more obvious choices for a list like this, but a left tackle is invaluable to the building of an NFL team. He has yet to make a Pro Bowl, but a former seventh round pick turning himself into a franchise tackle on a running team deserves some acknowledgement. If this Eagles team makes it back to the top of the NFC East on the back of its running game, then Mailata will have been a big part of it, stats be damned. -Ben Hendricks
76. A.J. Brown
A.J. Brown has played three seasons in the NFL thus far, all with the Tennessee Titans. In his first two years, Brown made an impact right away with two 1,000-yard receiving seasons in a row. Furthermore, he had a combined 19 touchdowns in these first two seasons.
Recently, in 2021, Brown’s numbers went down a bit, but still had a heck of a year, with 869 receiving yards and five touchdowns. In the offseason, Brown will be starting a new chapter in his career after being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be sure to make an impact as he is one of the more valuable young receivers in the NFL. -Matthew Brown
75. Corey Linsley
A former fifth round selection by the Green Bay Packers, Linsley has since emerged as one of the most reliable centers in the NFL. He’s been selected to one First Team and one Second Team All-Pro, making one Pro Bowl. At time of his signing with the Chargers, he is the highest paid center in the entire league, being paid $62.5 million over five years. He should continue to be an integral piece of the Los Angeles line in 2022. -Ben Hendricks
74. Lane Johnson
Lane Johnson is a veteran offensive tackle, playeing all eight years of his career in Philadelphia. He is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named Associated Press All-Pro in 2017 and 2021. In 2021, he started 13 games with the Eagles and had 821 offensive snaps. Furthermore, he also had a rare receiving touchdown in 2021. Overall, he has been one of the reliable tackles to protect the quarterback in Philly and should have another good season in 2022. -Matthew Brown
73. Penei Sewell
Sewell was able to live up to the hype as a great offensive tackle in his rookie season for the Lions. He moved to right tackle after playing left tackle in college and performed well. The Lions weren’t a very good team in 2021, but their offensive line was a bright spot and it looks like that trend will continue in 2022. -Joe DiTullio
72. Trevon Diggs
Trevon Diggs took a huge step forward in 2021. During his rookie year (2020) he had 58 tackles, one sack and three interceptions. Last season, he had a whopping 11 interceptions, which led the league, was nominated to the Pro Bowl and was a First Team All-Pro selection. Double-digit interceptions will be tough to repeat, but it is well within the realm of possibility for this young corner. -Ben Hendricks
71. Joe Mixon
Over the last several years, Cincinnati fans have been clamoring for better offensive line play to protect Joe Burrow. Joe Mixon has also been able to do some incredible things behind a subpar offensive line. He accounted for over 1,500 yards last season and with a new offensive line, he could be even more productive as Cincinnati tries to defend their AFC Championship. -Joe DiTullio
