Melbourne Victory

Melbourne Victory vs Wellington Phoenix

7:45PM AEDT, AAMI Park

Wellington Phoenix

The Victory head into their home clash against the Phoenix having triumphed in seven of their last eleven contests against them and with a further three having resulted in a stalemate. Will Melbourne continue their cruise control against Wellington, or will the ‘Nix’ crash the party?

Both sides last appearances out on a Football pitch were rather clunky, as Melbourne battled their way to a 1-1 draw in less-than-ideal conditions at Dolphin Stadium against Brisbane. Meanwhile the key highlight from Wellington’s 1-0 win against the Wanderers, was Steven Ugarkovic’s horrible 39th-minute penalty attempt, in which he skied it high into the stands. Melbourne’s defence was fairly shabby, as was Wellington’s, with the Victory having eighteen shots peppered at them and Wellington, nineteen! Yet, with the Victory still in contention to finish 1st and the ‘Nix’ desperately searching for a home final, hopefully we should see some more enthusiasm and clinical finishing in this crucial affair.

Betting tips: Back the Victory to edge this encounter out at $1.60 (Bet365)

Also look for them to fashion the games first strike at $1.40 (Bet365)

Central Coast Mariners

Central Coast Mariners vs Western United

4:05PM AEDT, Central Coast Stadium

Western United

A victory in Gosford for Western United would boost them one-point above City in 1st place with only two matches remaining in the regular season. However, a win for the Central Coast would almost seemingly book them a finals berth, something that seemed unlikely at the start of the campaign. So, who will take the cake in this crucial encounter?

Garang Kuol has burst out of nowhere as of late and he could prove to be a vital player in this matchup. The younger brother of former Mariner Alou has produced two goals from just five appearances this season, proving to be a pacy menace off the bench. Whilst he’s also created one goal assist and three shot assists to his credit. Previously against Wellington, he scored with one of his first few touches in the second half. Then more recently against Newcastle in the F3 Derby, he secured his sides result with a sublime 91st-minute strike. With this clash expected to be tight and with perhaps little major attacking opportunities afforded to both clubs, what he comes up with in the dying stages may have a bigger than anticipated impact on the match at hand.

Betting tips: Pick this encounter to produce over 2.5 goals at $1.76 (Picklebet)

Also look for there to be at least 1+ strike, if not more, scored in each half at $1.64 (Sportsbet)

Adelaide United

Adelaide United vs Brisbane Roar

7:45PM AEDT, Coopers Stadium

Brisbane Roar

Brisbane have claimed all three-points from just one of their last eight matches. In stark comparison for the hosting Adelaide, they’ve won their previous three games on the trot and have fashioned five goals over their last two appearances. Can Warren Moon’s men cause a monumental upset away from the confines of Dolphin Stadium, or does this clash belong to Carl Veart and his men?

The Roar attempted eighteen shots in their latest home clash against the Victory, however it paid off only once, via Alex Parsons powerful 54th-minute effort. Prior to that, versing the ‘Bulls’ away, they also had eighteen shots that day, but the only one that was converted came courtesy of Defender Scott Neville (of all people). While yep, before that over a two-match stretch, it was the same old story, as they mustered up twenty-two combined attempts at goal, only to seek refuge in the back of the net once. That poor finishing has haunted them all season long. Only adding to that agony, is that from twelve games on the road this season, the Roar have fashioned only ten goals in total, whilst having leaked twenty. So, in a match that ultimately matters little for themselves, however a lot for the ‘Reds’, anything but an Adelaide victory is a highly likely scenario. Because with the form they’re displaying, it really and truly honestly wouldn’t matter that the Roar are in all sorts of trouble at the moment.

Betting tips: Back the ‘Reds’ to easily prevail here at $2.16 (Picklebet)

Also look for only them to cause the back of the net to bulge by scoring at $2.20 (Bet365)

Perth Glory

Perth Glory vs Western Sydney Wanderers

7:45PM AEDT, HBF Park

Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney have displayed some maddingly frustrating form as of late, having drawn four of their last seven matchups. Whilst their seven stalemates on the season is the equal second highest rate in the league. Meanwhile the home side Glory have all but been consigned to their first-ever wooden spoon and within the clubs twenty-fifth anniversary year no less! Will the Wanderers handle business properly, or can the young Glory finally live up to their name?

The only reason that the Wanderers might finally snatch an illusive win here is because they’re playing the drowning Glory who are desperately grasping for air. If nothing else, then Mark Rudan might will them to a win, such is his raw uncertified passion and determination to help fix the fallen giants! However, opposing rookie Midfielders in the form of 22-year-old Callum Timmins and the 24-years-of-age Antonee Burke-Gilroy might have a thing or two to say about that. Having featured in twenty and twenty-three matches respectively this campaign, they’ve each been a mainstay of the Glory’s attacks forward further up the pitch. Whilst Timmins has one goal and thirteen shot assists for the season and for Burke-Gilroy those numbers are one strike, ten shot assists and a special two goal assists. If anybody is going to rumble the Wanderers, then it may well be the kids and these two are pretty spectacular place to start off with!

Betting tips: Go for broke and pick the Glory to win at $5.00 (Bet365) (If nothing else because of the Wanderers current form)

Also look for this affair to come up with over 1.5 collective goals at $1.25 (Bet365)

Whilst you can also look for there to be 12+ collective corners within the match at $2.20 (Bet365)

Sunday, May 01

Macarthur FC

Macarthur FC vs Newcastle Jets

4:05PM AEDT, Campbelltown Stadium

Newcastle Jets

The ’Bulls’ need to ram their horns straight through the Jets with a crucial win in Campbelltown, as currently sitting in 7th place, they are a point out of the Top Six, whilst also having played a game in hand over 6th (24 vs 23 contested). Meanwhile anything but a win for Newcastle would effectively render their season over. This match despite its hype, could be a total goal bonanza, or the downside could result in a drab, sour affair. Which one will it be?

Macarthur’s latest outing was a 4-1 capitulation to the Victory at home. A match in which they leaked goals in all of the 28th, 53rd, 81st and 94th-minutes of the match. With the hosts sole goal coming through a smartly taken 56th-minute Craig Noone spot kick, his fifth strike of the season. Meanwhile the Jets lost 4-2 in the F3 Derby at McDonald Jones Stadium, that despite being down 3-0 at one stage, as Arthur Papas’s side displayed a lot of spirit and a lot of fight against their archrivals. Their goals came courtesy of Lucas Mauragis in the 46th-minute and then four-minutes later through a Jacob Farrell OG. Whilst a Daniel Penha red in the dying stages of the game highlighted the overall feistiness of the affair, as he put a stary elbow on the opposition, thus perhaps ending (sadly at that) his time in a Jets uniform. With both sides looking to rebound commandingly, hopefully we get that potential goal bonanza I mentioned before.

Betting tips: Look for Macarthur to win at $2.20 (Bet365)

Also look for Ulises Davila to score anytime at $2.10, or perhaps first at $5.00 (Bet365)

And finally back this clash to have over 2.5 goals scored at $1.72 (Bet365)

Tuesday, May 03

Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners

7:05PM AEDT, Moreton Daily Stadium

Central Coast Mariners

Two of the last three matches contested between these two teams have conjured up three and four strikes respectively. However, when playing in Brisbane, the Roar have kept the Mariners scoreless over three straight matches, good for two wins and a draw. Then again, with Nick Montgomery’s men having claimed five victories from their past eight games, this matchup has the potential for anything to occur within it. What will we play witness to next Tuesday night?

The Roar’s latest exploits saw them draw 1-1 with the Victory at Dolphin Stadium, as they shared the spoil of the riches with one of the A-Leagues finer teams from this season. However, the Mariners are playing some simply scintillating Football at the moment, with the likes of Marco Urena, Jason Cummings, Moresche, Garang Kuol & Co in tow. They are scoring for fun and making their fellow A-League opponents look like absolute amateurs in the process. And that’s not even mentioning the relentless efforts of should-be-Socceroo Mark Birighitti in goals, alongside the likes of Kye Rowes in defence. I strongly believe the Central Coast’s march to the finals will continue on right here.

Betting tips: When the match odds become available, pick the Mariners to score first, for only them to score and for them to triumph.
