A24's 'Funny Pages' trailer is a silly, quirky comedy about comic books

A24 has become pretty synonymous with critically acclaimed, slow-burning horror movies (Hereditary, Lamb, Men, Saint Maud, technically The Humans), but they’re by no means a one-trick pony, throwing us genre-bending curveballs like The Green Knight, Everything Everywhere All At Once, After Yang, Red Rocket, The Tragedy of Macbeth, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, and so many more.

Next up is Funny Pages, written and directed by Owen Kline, and starring Daniel Zoghadri and Our Flag Means Death‘s Matthew Maher, with the only horror in sight being some good old social awkwardness.

The movie follows Robert (Zoghadri), an aspiring cartoonist who drops out of school in order to pursue a career in comics, with the end result looking like a very fun and very silly introduction to the highs and lows of following your dreams.

Funny Pages comes to select theatres and streaming Aug. 26.
