Acend has announced via Twitter that Travis “L1NK” Mendoza will be joining the team to complete their starting roster for the EMEA Last Chance Qualifier, where they will fight for a golden ticket for the Valorant Champions Istanbul.

“Super excited to finally announce that I’m joining Acend, going to give it my all for LCQ! Thank you everyone for supporting and I’ll see you on the server soon.” the British player described his feelings about being a part of the acclaimed Valorant team, Acend.

The defending world champion acquired L1NK to fill the vacancy left by Alexander “zeek” Zygmunt, who was moved to the bench at the end of June. Acend now have their eyes set on the EMEA LCQ, where they will square up against some perennial teams like Guild, G2 Esports, and M3 Champions to secure their spot in the Valorant Champions Istanbul. L1NK can also face off his former team if both teams survive until the grand finals.

LINK made a name for himself, having put a great showing during his tenure in Team Liquid. The European organization decided to bench LINK in June 2022 to give Aurimas “Dreamas” Zablockis a shot in the VCT 2022: Stage 2 Challengers. Then the Lithuanian player parted ways with Team Liquid at the beginning of July, having failed to qualify for Valorant Masters Copenhagen. With the acquisition of L1NK, Acend strengthened their starting line-up by adding another experienced player who could lead the team in the macro game.

Acend have been struggling to find their old form, which brought them “the first Valorant world champion” title last year. It looked like the organization had to make some notable changes to revive the team with fresh blood. L1NK is the one who can give a positive impact on his teammates on their way to the Valorant Champions. Acend will attend the EMEA LCQ to make up for their disjointed fashion after failing to qualify for the two VCT Masters tournaments. They will go up against M3 Champions in the upper bracket quarters, which is scheduled to begin on August 7.
