After only two weeks since the release of Call of Duty: Vanguard, Activision confirms plans to offer a free multiplayer weekend for the game in the next few days.
The trial is coming up this Thursday through next Monday, Nov. 18-22, according to the Call of Duty News account on Twitter.
The choice to allow new players to join in on the action completely for free comes after Vanguard didn’t meet players’ high standards, with many players online sharing their disappointment with the launch and the game itself.
According to outlet GamesIndustry.biz, who published physical and digital sales of Vanguard, the game also allegedly performed poorly in the UK launch, selling much less than Black Ops Cold War.
Previously, fans were let down by the lack of ranked gameplay in Vanguard on launch, which the official Call of Duty Twitter account announced four days before release.
With Season One of Vanguard not releasing until Dec. 2, fans were surprised to find out that the game won’t have ranked gameplay in any form until sometime in 2022.
Activision shared very little information about this, leaving players to settle with the disappointing announcement and not much else.
The tides may change for Activision and Vanguard once ranked gameplay is released, but, at it’s currently state, fans seem mostly uninterested to play.
