Carlton vs. St Kilda

image

Carlton have gone 5-0 in both the head-to-head and the line at Marvel Stadium this season. They are coming off a 31-point win over Fremantle while St Kilda have lost three on the trot. The Saints’ defeat to Sydney last week was significant because it was the first time they had lost by 40+ points in over twelve months. I would back Carlton in the head-to-head at 1.57 (BlueBet, Picklebet). It’s been seven years since Carlton last beat St Kilda by more than 39 points, so those looking for more risk should consider Carlton 1-39 at 2.15 (BlueBet).

Essendon vs. Sydney

image

Essendon have lost five of their lat six games and they have gone 1-4 as the home underdog over the last twelve months. The Bombers have also gone 2-12 as the underdog against Sydney since 2013. The Swans have gone 6-2 in the head-to-head and 7-1 at the line at the MCG since 2018. Essendon have gone 0-5 in both the the head-to-head and the line at the MCG in 2022. I would back Sydney in the head-to-head at 1.38 (bet365).

Gold Coast vs. Collingwood

image

Wet weather is forecast for the Gold Coast over the weekend, which has contributed to bookmakers setting a low total of 143.5. With subdued scoring expected, a blowout win looks less likely. The Suns have won five of their last seven with their two defeats coming by 19 and 2 points. Collingwood, meanwhile, have won five straight coming into this clash with none of those wins coming by 40+ points. I would back both Gold Coast 1-39 at 2.30 (BlueBet) and Collingwood 1-39 at 2.50 (BlueBet).

GWS vs. Hawthorn

image

The wet forecast has seen the total come down to 148.5. The average total at Giants Stadium this season has been 193.5 and the visiting Hawthorn have averaged 180 total points this season, which is the highest in the league. The Giants’ last three home games went over the total and 9 of Hawthorn’s 10 away games over the last twelve months have gone over the total, including the last 5. Five of the Giants’ last six home games against Hawthorn went over the total. I would back over 148.5 total points at 1.89 (bet365).
