Alex Leatherwood to Miss 4 Weeks with Illness

Alex Leatherwood has been placed on the non-football/illness list. The illness Leatherwood has will apparently keep him out for four weeks. It is believed that he has mononucleoisis, which is very contagious, but not usually dangerous.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.

Leatherwood won the CFP National Championship twice with the University of Alabama, in 2017 and 2020. He also won the Outland Trophy, the Jacobs Blocking trophy and was named to the First Team All-SEC twice during college.

After being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Raiders, Leatherwood remained there until 2022. The Raiders apparently tried to shop him to every single team in the league in the 2022 offseason, but nobody wanted to trade for him, leading to his release. The Bears picked him up before the 2022-2023 season began.
