Are Pokémon Black and White Getting Remade in 2023?

Pokémon Black and White were released on the Nintendo DS in 2010 and were met with overwhelming positive remarks from fans, so as the games turn 13 this year, many are wondering if, or when, they’ll be getting remade, like their predecessors.

Older Pokémon games, from Generations I to IV, have been upgraded visually in recent years and some even getting the additions of new features, like Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (Remakes of Generation III) getting Mega Evolutions for new Pokémon.

So, as it appears Pokémon has been moving chronologically with their remake selections, the next game ready for an update seems to be the ever-popular Pokémon Black and White versions.

While there is no definitive “yes” or “no” to this question, it is safe to assume that remakes for the games are on their way.

The tail-end of 2021 and first half of 2022 were dedicated to the Sinnoh games, with the remakes being released first and then followed by Pokémon Legends: Arceus a game taking place in old Sinnoh, called Hisui.

So, if, and/or when, the remakes are announced for Pokémon Black and White, one can also expect another game to follow it, whether that be a set of Generation X games or not, remakes (in recent history) have come preluding another main series game.

Therefore, whether it be this year or the next, Pokémon Black and White will more than likely follow in the footsteps of Pokémon Red and Blue (Remakes: FireRed and LeafGreen), Pokémon Gold and Silver (Remakes: HeartGold and SoulSilver), the aforementioned Generation III games and Pokémon Diamond and Pearl (Remakes: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl).

Pokémon remakes help new fans contextualize previous entries that they may not have had the chance to play, and remind old players what they love about the series entirely.
