arT on recent struggles: “We didn't play as the favorites, too much waiting, not enough aggression”

FURIA have had a tough run in the past few weeks. Having shown promising results at the PGL Major Antwerp and at IEM Dallas with consecutive playoffs finishes, the Brazilians went to Roobet Cup and ESL Challenger Valencia hoping to build on that success, but they were far from the same team when facing off against some lower-tier opposition.

Two separate losses to 9z meant FURIA exited the online Roobet Cup in groups before the Brazilians also went out in last place in Spain despite being by far the highest-ranked team in attendance, with Sprout and 00NATION seeing them out.

Now FURIA have begun their campaign at the season finale in Cologne and are still alive, but they have their backs against the wall after dropping to Group B’s lower bracket immediately on the back of a loss to Astralis. Andrei “arT” Piovezan‘s team has since eliminated Outsiders, and now they’re heading into a match against the loser of FaZe vs. Spirit in another elimination series.

In our interview with the in-game on day three of the IEM Cologne group stage, talking about their recent struggles arT was hopeful that FURIA can recover as long as they keep their confidence level up and learn from their mistakes.

“Even losing all the time, the only bad thing is that we lost some confidence and had to regroup,” he said. “On the bright side, we learned a lot of things, we tried new things and trashed the things we don’t want to do anymore. Overall, when you lose so much, you eventually grow stronger. There’s no other way around it.”
