Athletic Bilbao vs Granada Match Analysis and Prediction

Athletic Bilbao will continue their 2021-22 campaign at home when they welcome Granada on Friday, as they look forward to return to their winning ways in Spain’s top flight.

The Basque club are currently position eight in the La Liga table on 19 points, while Granada have picked only 11 points this season, leaving them down at the 17th spot in the division.

Athletic Bilbao have won four, drawn seven and lost two of thier 13 La Liga games this season, collecting 19 points.

Marcelino’s team has lost just one of their last seven in Spain’s top flight, a defeat that came at home to Cadiz on 5th November, and they are now four matches without a victory at this level.

Since taking victory over Villarreal on 23rd October, Athletic Bilbao have drawn with Espanyol, Real Sociedad and Levante, and a surprise one-goal at home to Cadiz.

They finished position ten in Spain’s top flight last term but claimed fifth at 2015-16 and will believe that they will be able to challenge for a potential European spot this season.

The Lions will  be in a bid to make it a back-to-back La Liga wins over Granada, having recorded a 2-1 victory when they last had an encounter at San Mames in March.

Granada are heading into the Friday’s fixture off the back of a 4-1 loss to Real Madrid at home last weekend, as they also lost 2-0 to Espanyol before the international break.

It remains fact that it has been a tough start of the season Granada, with 11 points from 13 matches leaving them at position 17 with same points as 18th-placed Elche.

Robert Moreno’s side have finished seventh and ninth in their last two seasons at this level, meaning that a lot was expected of them this season. However, their dismal performances have been at large a disappointment.
