B8 dissolves Dota 2 roster, including Dendi, looking for a start on a new rebuild

The absolute madness that is B8 as an organization just keeps going, with the team officially releasing yet another Dota 2 roster, including captain and founder Dendi, one of the best players of all time. However this time around, the change is slightly more complex than the team’s previous moves.

The ongoing war in Ukraine has caused some serious repercussions for the team, specifically around the qualifiers for the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit, as it stopped gears of the team’s training camp to the point that management had to make a change when things snowballed out of control.

Dendi stated:

“We decided to say goodbye to our Dota 2 team” “It’s sad, but our results were underwhelming.” “It’s hard to build a Dota team from scratch again, but B8 is ready for the difficulties” “We see it as an opportunity. So guys, await some new information about the new team.”

In the video recorded by the organization discussing the team’s release, all of the other players were quite open in talking about the flaws that caused the team to fall apart during most games, as performance was not terrible but definitely not what was needed to continue. These issues resulted in the decision to release the entire team, which was apparently expected and done on good terms by all the parties involved.

Dendi also went out of his way to provide a bit of background into the organization’s process of scouting players, as the criticism is quite rough on this topic, sharing that more than 25 players were scouted per role of need during the team’s rebuild back in November 2021. As of the moment, the organization is going quiet on the Dota front as they look to build a team that can better compete in the game’s current state as well as possible.

Even though Dendi was technically included within the release of this iteration of B8, by the wording on his statement it is very likely that he will return to lead the next created team of B8’s Dota lineup despite some fans listing his performance in games as one of the biggest flaws within the collapse of the team. This included being the leader of a team that had the longest losing streak in competitive Dota 2 history, something we have never seen before from Dendi.

While Dendi has faced quite a lot of criticism for his play and overall team building decisions, B8 has brought up several young talented players that have since broken out from other rosters all across Europe, such as Remco “Crystallis” Arets and Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov.

Even though this time around it didn’t work for B8 and Dendi, always remember that the individual pieces rarely are at absolute fault. An organization will always perform as a team at first glance.

For now, B8 will continue to support its active CS GO roster while searching for new players to bring in for an eventual return to the Dota 2 scene.
