Having a top-class goalkeeper between the sticks can bail you out of awkward situations, and that is no different on Football Manager 2022.
Sometimes you might not have the budget to splash out on the best talent, but you could recruit a wonderkid and train them into one of the best.
Read on to discover who the best wonderkid goalkeepers are on FM22.

What makes a wonderkid goalkeeper?
Usually, we would class a wonderkid as a player under the age of 21 with a high potential rating, however, goalkeepers are a slightly different breed.
Because it takes them longer to mature as players, and they usually have a longer career than their outfield teammates, we’ve bumped the age up to 23.
Some of these players will be ready to slot into your team straight away, others will need a lot of training, but either way, they have the potential to become brilliant on Football Manager 2022.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
Age: 22
Advertisement
Club: Paris Saint-Germain
Value: £85 million
Wage: £215,000 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 160/182
Gianluigi Donnarumma is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and is still only 22.
He will cost a large part of your budget, but will slot into most teams first XI straight away, and will only continue to improve.
Maarten Vandevoordt
Age: 19
Club: KRC Genk Under 21s
Advertisement
Value: £4 million
Wage: £3,800 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 108/180
The Genk academy has produced the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Yannick Carrasco and Thibaut Courtois, and Maarten Vandevoordt will hope to follow in their footsteps to become top class.
He has the second-best potential on the list and is a much cheaper option to Donnurumma, so look to him as your number one choice.
Manuel Gasparini
Age: 19
Club: Legnago (on loan from Udinese)

Value: £200,000
Wage: £2,000 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 102/170
The Italian has just had a loan move to Legnago, who are in the third tier of the Italian leagues.
He will be solid in goal, but don’t expect him to be a great distributor of the ball, with low passing.
Alejandro Iturbe
Age: 17
Club: Atletico Madrid Under 19s

Value: £30,000
Wage: £500 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 70/170
Younger than the rest at 17 years old, Alejandro Iturbe will need a bit more TLC but can mix it with the best in the future.
Already very capable in one on one situations with his good reflexes, he will be a hard man to get past.
Stefan Bajic
Age: 19
Club: Saint-Etienne

Value: £300,000
Wage: £975 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 102/170
After spending last season on loan at Saint-Etienne 2, Stefan Bajic will be hoping to break into the first team this campaign.
Things aren’t going so well for him at the moment, with 10 goals conceded in two starting appearances and two coming off the bench, so maybe you can help him out and bring him into a team with a less leaky defence.
Andriy Lunin
Age: 22
Club: Real Madrid

Value: £12 million
Wage: £6,000 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 120/170
With Thibaut Courtois settled in the Real Madrid goal, maybe you can convince Andriy Lunin to your club with lots of first-team action.
He has the potential to be among the second-best tiered keepers in the game, so if you can snap him up for his value it could be quite a steal.
Alvaro Fernandez
Age: 23
Club: Brentford (on loan from Huesca)

Value: £14 million
Wage: £25,000 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 140/165
Alvaro Fernandez would have been a man expecting first-team action for Brentford but has been kept out by the top form of David Raya.
With injury keeping his teammate out until March, Fernandez will be looking to capitalise on his chance to show he has what it takes to retain the position for the rest of the season.
Alex Padilla
Age: 18
Club: A. Bilbao

Value: £95,000
Wage: £425 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 76/163
Another of the younger ones on the list, Alex Padilla may have a low rating at the moment but with the right manager could become special.
He has only made two appearances so far, both for Spain U19’s, so it may be a while before he is up to match speed.
Wuilker Farinez
Age: 23
Club: RC Lens

Value: £20 million
Wage: £5,500 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 136/160
It’s hard to find game time if you’re not the number 1 choice for your team, and that’s exactly what Wuilker Farinez is experiencing.
He is already a capable keeper, so you could be the manager to take him to the next level by trusting him enough to be a starter.
Sergio Dutra
Age: 19
Club: VTSC Under 23s
Advertisement
Value: £2,000
Wage: £700 a week
FM21 CA/PA: 75/160
Sergio Dutra will be a great investment, worth getting hold of even if you only intend to make some money out of him.
£2,000 is loose change for most teams, so it’s a no-brainer to recruit him, and if he doesn’t fulfil his potential you can always sell him on for profit.
