BLAST Premier CSGO Matches Coming to BBC’s iPlayer

CS:GO players can now watch BLAST’s remaining tournaments of the season on BBC’s digital platform, BBC iPlayer, the tournament organizer announced today. BBC iPlayer will now feature FPS matches with the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown on November 24. Subsequent BLAST events, the BLAST Premier Fall Finals (December 8-13) and the BLAST Premier Global Finals (January 19-24) will also be streamed live on the digital platform.

BBC iPlayer will feature more than 120 hours of CS:GO content with over £1.5 million in prize money.

Alexander Lewin, VP Distribution and Programming for BLAST, said: “The BBC is admired around the world for its standard of excellence, and its digital platforms provide the perfect destination for BLAST Premier’s fans based in the United Kingdom to watch the world’s best Counter-Strike players go head-to-head.”

BBC’s iPlayer has featured esports content previously including League of Legends and Rocket League. The public broadcaster streamed the Rocket League Spring Series and LoL content via the UK League Championship (UKLC) and Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC).

BBC is not new to esports or even FPS games. The broadcaster has featured Gfinity Elite Series CS:GO matches as well as Dota 2’s ESL One Birmingham in the past few years.

BLAST was one of the first organizers to announce a tournament circuit in CS:GO. The BLAST Premier circuit does not have exclusivity clauses allowing all teams to compete against each other. The Global Finals has a million-dollar prize pool with $600,000 going to the winner.

Earlier in the year, BLAST faced heavy criticism due to its partnership with NEOM, a futuristic city being built by Saudi Arabian crown prince Mohammad Bil Salman Al Saud. After much public criticism over Saudi Arabia’s human rights record, the tournament organizer ended the partnership.
