The grim, plague-ridden action roleplaying game will come to PC via Steam, also launching on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Seeing Thymesia in motion for no less than a few seconds, fans of the genre will note some similarities with a certain FromSoftware title.

There’s an unshakable Bloodborne vibe, though Taiwanese developer OverBorder is leaning into the use of plague-powered weapons as well as nimble swordplay and perfect parries. Here’s more of what to expect when Thymesia comes to PC and consoles next year:

A kingdom once thriving on the power of alchemy enters an age of calamity. After discovering the price behind alchemy, an attempt to stop the use of it backfired. Within a few days, the kingdom was in chaos and the streets infested with monsters.

The key to understanding all of this is in Corvus’ hands, but he has lost his memory. The truth can only be found within his memories, but every time he dives back in, he only finds more secrets.

  • Weaponising diseases: As Corvus, players can seize diseases from enemies and wield them as deadly weapons
  • Engaging combat: Players will need to use their entire arsenal to avoid death; dodging attacks and parrying at precisely the right time will be instrumental to survival
  • A dark and deadly world: With a sinister and gloomy backdrop, Thymesia oozes character through its environments and setting
  • Unforgiving enemies: Corrupted by the plague, and mutated into monsters, the enemies are twisted and incredibly hostile, challenging players at every turn
  • Replayability: The ability to customise Corvus and try different builds, coupled with the multiple different endings available, means no two playthroughs are ever the same.

It seems Bloodborne has no shortage of admirers. 2022 will also wave in Lies of P, a similarly dark and eerie RPG that pits you against a city of evil automatons.
