BOOM Esports join Fnatic in SEA Division II for the Spring Tour

Two of the top 3 teams in Southeast Asia in the previous season are headed to Division II after the first Tour of the 2023 Dota Pro Circuit.

Fnatic got relegated first this DPC season after disastrous six losses in a row registered in the Winter Tour. Although they still have one more series to fight in the league play, the result against Talon will not change their fate. Fnatic drop to SEA Division II after last year they placed third in the final Tour of the DPC and were one of the three SEA teams directly qualified to The International via DPC Points.

While Fnatic’s ticket to TI11 was earned in a rather dramatic way, after Valve revealed a different ruling of how they calculated the DPC points, BOOM Esports were undoubtedly the force to be reckoned with last year. They made it to TI11 as one of the top 8 teams in the world, but fast forward to the present day, losing three players in the post TI shuffle seems to have cost them a great deal.

BOOM Esports are relegated to Division II with just two victories to their name and five losses. The two wins in the Winter season were registered against Fnatic and Team SMG.

SEA Winter Tour regional league is set to come to an end in a few days, on the 30th of January with what can be a decisive match for who will represent the region at the Lima Major. A total of three SEA teams will make the cut for the first major of the year and so far, only Execration have secured their spot. The battle for the remaining two tickets is between Blacklist International, Geek Slate, and Talon Esports, who are currently tied with a 4-2 series score.
