Brazil vs Ghana Match Analysis and Prediction

Brazil take on Ghana in an international friendly on Friday, with the game being played at Stade Oceane in Le Havre, France, helping reduce travel time for the majority of both nations’ European-based players.

After progressing through World Cup qualifying with 45 points from 17 matches in the CONMEBOL section, all Brazilian eyes are now firmly directed on this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.

Since 2002, Brazil’s 7-1 defeat at the hands of Germany on home soil in the 2014 semi-final is the closest they have come to adding to their record trophy tally, but there is a growing feeling that this could be their year under Tite.

The 61-year-old announced earlier this year that he will step down from his position as head coach after the World Cup in Qatar, making the competition his last chance to leave a truly lasting legacy with his country.

Friday’s friendly will provide good preparation for facing Cameroon in their final game in Group G at the World Cup, with Switzerland and Serbia also drawn alongside them in a group which Brazil will be expected to dominate from the outset.

Meanwhile, Ghana qualified for their first World Cup since 2014 after defeating Nigeria on away goals in the final qualifying round of the CAF section.

Otto Addo, who earned 15 caps for Ghana during his playing career, was promoted from interim coach to full-time manager after his side’s hard-fought progression at the Super Eagles’ expense.

He has since helped guide Ghana to four points from two matches in AFCON qualifying, before losing to Japan and drawing with Chile in June’s Kirin Cup.

Friday’s trip to France to face Brazil provides Oddo’s biggest test in charge ahead of the winter World Cup, in which they will face Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in a competitive-looking Group H.

Brazil news

Gabriel Jesus has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Brazil’s starting XI, but it is still a surprise to see Mattheus Cunha, Roberto Firmino and Pedro chosen ahead of him.

Gabriel Martinelli has also been left out despite impressing for Arsenal, while Alex Sandro misses out due to a thigh Injury.

Ghana news

Ghana have called up Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams for the first time after the duo swutched allegiances from England and Spain respectively.

Mohammed Salisu is also in line for an international debut, while Mohammed Kudus has led the line brilliantly for Ajax this season, and he could be handed a similar role on Friday.

Prediction and Odds

Ghana should be boosted by the addition of few top quality fresh faces, but we still expect the Brazilians t have too much for them on Friday.

Despite travelling without Jesus, Tite has a scary array of attacking quality to select from while generally keeping his side well-stocked in terms of numbers behind the ball.
