The Milwaukee Bucks continue their four-game road trip on Monday night in Salt Lake City as the 42-25 Utah Jazz welcome them to town for a cross-conference matchup. The tip-off is scheduled for 10 PM EST at Vivint Arena.

Milwaukee battled it out with Golden State on Saturday but came out on the losing end in what many thought could be a potential Finals preview. Giannis Antetokounmpo had a big night, but the rest of the rotation struggled around him. The Jazz meanwhile, beat the Sacramento Kings 135-124 in the first of a four-game homestand.

Utah has actually been extremely dominant against the defending champions, winning three in a row. They beat them 107-95 on Halloween in their only other meeting of the 2021/22 campaign.

Milwaukee is a very slim 1-point favorite here and has gone just 17-15 ATS away.

Bucks Struggling on The Road

Giannis and Co. are up to second place in the East with a 42-26 record, but they’ve done most of their damage at home. On the road, the Bucks are only 18-14, with their most recent loss of course coming in the Bay Area. This was a game that Milwaukee certainly wanted to win because of the hype surrounding it. The Bucks and Warriors could potentially meet in the NBA Finals, but this time, Steph Curry’s squad got it done.

Steph himself actually had an atrocious night, scoring just eight points. But Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole torched the Bucks defense, with Klay dropping a season-high 38. Antetokounnpo did his own damage, going for 31 points and eight boards, but there was a lack of help. Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday combined for a mere 31 points.

Mike Budenholzer’s squad was absolutely bodied on the boards, getting outrebounded 55-39. All good things have to come to an end though, with this defeat ending a six-game winning streak for the Bucks. The supporting cast will need to step up and contribute like they usually do on Monday against a very solid Jazz group. Brook Lopez will also return for this clash after recovering from back surgery. His minutes are going to be limited, but it’s still a huge boost to the frontcourt.

Tough Stretch Ahead for Utah

The Jazz is enjoying another fine campaign and should have no problem remaining in the top-four in the West. However, Utah will be battle-tested across this next stretch. After Monday’s matchup, Quin Snyder’s team faces the Bulls, Clippers, Knicks, Nets, Celtics, Hornets, and Mavericks. Essentially, 12 of their remaining 14 contests come against teams that are either in the playoffs or fighting for a play-in spot.

Saturday was a very good performance from the entire rotation vs. Sacramento. While Donovan Mitchell and Bojan Bogdanovic both dropped 25+, it was bench unit star Jordan Clarkson who stole the spotlight, balling out for a career-high 45 points on 7 for 13 shooting from long range.

One pleasant surprise for the Jazz was Hassan Whiteside, who started in place of the injured Rudy Gobert. Whiteside filled in very nicely, grabbing 21 rebounds and pouring in 12 points. The Eiffel Tower is questionable on Monday due to a foot issue. That being said, it’s refreshing for Utah to know they have another big who can step up and control the boards like Gobert does.

Bucks vs Jazz Prediction

The Bucks struggle against the Jazz, but I think they’re going to secure a win here. Lopez is back in the mix and I frankly don’t see Middleton and Holiday having another cold night. Plus, they’ve won six of seven.  Since the spread is so slim, take the moneyline.

Pick: Bucks (-112)
