Burnley are still in desperate search for their first Premier League win of the season and that search continues this weekend when they welcome Brentford to Turf Moor on Saturday for the 10th league round with kickoff at 17:00.
It has been a poor and disappointing start to the 2021-22 Premier League campaign for Burnley who are still winless in their opening nine matches, picking up four draws while suffering five defeats in the process and currently occupy a place in the relegation zone with just four points.
The problem with Sean Dyche’s side is at the back and club seems to have lost their signature discipline and defensive organization which has served them well since their return to the top-flight. Dyche’s men have displayed one of the worst defences this season having just kept one clean sheet so far while have allowed 15 goals past them.
However, there have been signs of improvement for the hosts who have just lost one of their last three Premier League matches and are coming a 2-2 draw against Southampton with Burnley coming from behind to claim a point. Although Burnley are coming off a 1-0 defeat to spurs in EFL Cup, they will prefer to focus on their impressive draw and will look to build on it as they face a confident Brentford.
Brentford despite stuttering in their last two Premier League matches have made a very contrasting start to their campaign comparing to that of Burnley as the Bees maintained a top half position since the opening day until Leicester City came calling on their doors last weekend. The defeat was the second consecutive loss for Thomas Frank’s side who suffered a hard fought 1-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Now the Bees occupy the 12th spot on 12 points and will be looking to return to the top half with a win in this fixture, having already bounced back from their back-to-back league defeats with a 2-1 win against Stoke City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.
The win saw Brentford maintain their solid away form as they are yet to taste defeat away from this season and will enter the match on the back of five-match unbeaten run on the road with a three-match winning streak. Therefore, Thomas Frank will be hoping his side can keep their momentum going and should be confident ahead of the crucial fixture.
