Now Playing: Call of Duty: Vanguard – Official Story Trailer

Activision and Sony have a deal in place whereby PlayStation users get access to content before other platforms, and Vanguard is just the latest in the series to carry this tradition forward. Before this, PlayStation got to try Vanguard’s Champion Hill mode before anyone else, while the beta was made available first on PlayStation before coming to Xbox and PC later.

A recent trailer for Vanguard showed that its PlayStation exclusive content won’t come to Xbox or PC for at least a year.

For years, Microsoft had a deal with Activision for Call of Duty exclusivity before Sony won it away from the Xbox company starting with Black Ops III in 2015. Every game since then has featured some form of exclusive content on PlayStation, and so did Destiny when it was published by Activision.

Vanguard releases on November 5, and it’s not the only big event for Call of Duty this year. The battle royale game Warzone is introducing a brand-new map, Caldera, and the game is changing its name to Warzone Pacific to coincide with the WWII theme. Additionally, Activision continues to ramp up its efforts in the mobile space for Call of Duty with the acquisition of Digital Legends.

All of this is happening as Activision Blizzard faces a lawsuit and other investigations over sexual harassment and discrimination of women at the company.
