Capcom are counting down to a reveal in less that seven days

Who likes being teased? No one, that’s who, but marketing people love a good teaser and the latest hype building machine is a mysterious countdown from Capcom that will reach zero in a little under seven days.

What the countdown will reveal remains a mystery, gone are the days when publishers left handy comments like “Resident Evil Reveal!” in the HTML code but we do know the countdown will reach zero during the closing moments of the Capcom Pro Tour 2021. This is a Street Fighter competition and with Street Fighter V now six years old it would be the perfect moment to announce Street Fighter VI.

In November’s Street Fighter V Fall Update live stream producer Shuhei Matsumoto let slip that Luke, the final character to be added to Street Fighter V, “will be featured in the next Street Fighter project.” Earlier this year Capcom also tweeted that Luke would be “a key player in the future of Street Fighter!”

A short while later in the presentation Director Takayuki Nakayama also revealed that Street Fighter V is “a springboard to move on to the next project”, so almost certainly talking about Street Fighter VI. Matsumoto ends the stream buy saying “this is more of a ‘see you soon’ rather than a ‘goodbye’ and that “we look forward to providing you with more information next year!”

Everything points to a Street Fighter reveal of some sort but tt might just be a coincidence that the timer ends during the competition in which case the reveal will be for another game. We know DLC for Resident Evil Village is in production so it might be that, or the oft rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake.

It’s not though is it, totally something Street Fighter. Less than seven days till we find out.
