Carlos Dunlap Signs with Chiefs

The Chiefs have added another veteran piece to their defensive line. Carlos Dunlap has reportedly signed a one-year, $8 million contract with the Kansas City Chiefs immediately following a free agent visit. He was previously released by the Seahawks.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.

Dunlap was drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He played for 11 seasons in Cincinnati before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a center and a seventh round draft pick in October of 2020. He signed a two-year deal there and was released twice.

In 17 games (two starts) last year, Dunlap had 34 combined tackles (24 solo), 8.5 sacks and a forced fumble. Those 8.5 sacks were his best since 2019, when he had 10 for two teams. He had 13.5 sacks, a career high, with the Bengals in 2015. Dunlap also has two Pro Bowl selections, in 2015 and 2016.
