CDL 2022 Major 1 Qualifiers – Day 1 Recap

Here’s everything that went down in the first day of CDL 2022

The Call of Duty League got into full swing last night with three matches to begin the qualifiers for Major 1. Here’s all the results, and how the matches were won.

London Royal Ravens 3-0 Florida Mutineers

The London Royal Ravens began the 2022 Call of Duty League winning the first map on Gavutu. Gismo dominated here; dropping 24 kills and a massive 2500 damage and bringing his Royal Ravens teammates to a quick lead.

Absolute domination from the Ravens came in the Search and Destroy as they took the map 6-1. A 7-0 perfect first blood record in this map allowed the London Royal Ravens to head into map 3 with a 2-0 lead, and major momentum following a 8 K/D performance from Nastie.

The Royal Ravens closed out a quick 3-0 over the Florida Mutineers with a clinical 3-1 Control win. The whole Ravens roster went positive in this series, with Gismo going positive 22 and putting up a 1.63 Overall K/D. On the other hand, the Mutineers definitely suffered as Skyz finished with a team low 0.53 Overall K/D.

Boston Breach 3-2 LA Guerrillas

The LA Guerrillas got off to a great start in this series taking the first map 250-237. It was pure domination from Gunless, dropping 40 kills and securing the map for the Guerrillas. However, an extremely well played Search and Destroy saw the balance swing back in favour of the Breach.

TJHaly and Capsidal fried in this map, finishing with 12 and 11 kills respectively while winning the map 6-3. The momentum was carried through to the Control. Where Boston Breach won back to back offensive rounds to win the map. While the Breach were outslayed, their ability to stack the point and work together resulted in them taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

The Guerrillas replied in map four to equal the series 2-2. This map was mainly won due to the multiple streaks from Asim, who popped off on many different occasions to secure the game five. However, Boston closed out the match in the final SnD, winning 6-4. Huke had a rough map for LAG, going 0-8 and finishing the series on a horrible note.

Seattle Surge 3-0 New York Subliners

Sib performed extremely well in the Kickoff Classic and he continued this excellent form in the first map of this series. A dominant performance saw Sib put up 39 kills and a 1.77 K/D. Map 2 was no different, with Surge’s rookies taking over and winning the map 6-5 as the only players on the Seattle roster to go positive.

Seattle proved the Kickoff Classic wasn’t a fluke by securing the 3-0 sweep and staying undefeated in Control. Gavutu Control seems to be Pred’s playground as he showed up once again, going positive 10 and cementing himself in the running for rookie of the year. A second victory over New York proves that Surge are the real deal; and will be an issue in the COD League this season.
