Chernobylite Beginner’s Guide: Tips And Tricks

Chernobylite takes inspiration from Metro games and sets you free in the post-Chernobyl timeline. If you are new to the game or the genre then you might feel a bit overwhelmed. In this Chernobylite beginner’s guide, we are going to give you some tips and tricks that should help you get started.

Chernobylite Tips And Tricks

The following are some tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Chernobylite:

Craft A Stove

As you play the game you will learn that there is a lot of micro-management. Crafting is a major mechanic of the game and we recommend building a stove in order to cook food that will regenerate your health.

You will also need to stove to craft other items such as salts and Anti-radiation Ointment, which is going to protect you from radiation that you come across in certain areas.

Do Not Let Your Pysch Bar Drain

As you encounter supernatural events and encounter mutated monsters, your Pysch bar is going to drain. Once this hits zero, you will take damage until you die.

You can use Calming Salts to counter this effect, so always have some on you. Keep an eye on the mental state of your character as you progress the game.

Exploration Can Be Rewarding

Even when you have completed the main objective in an area, it is worth looking around. Points of interest are marked with a question mark. Go out of your way and explore the area around you. It can be very rewarding.

Grow Food At The Base

You need to take care of yourself and your crew. In order for your crew to be healthy and happy, they need to be fed. You can head out and find food but you can grow it at your base as well.

Dealing With Shadows

From time to time, you will encounter a shadow. You will not see them coming, no matter how much you upgrade your scanner. An upgraded shotgun or the railgun works great against shadows. The molecular plasma thrower also works wonders if you know how to make one.

Do Not Waste Your Bullets

Enemies in the game are stronger than you so chances are that they will take more than one bullet to die. Bullets are a rare resource, so you do not want to waste them. You will be able to progress the game without conflict.

You should only start a fight if you feel like that is the last resort and there is no other way. You can also upgrade your weapons in order to increase their effectiveness.

Be Silent But Deadly

We recommend crafting a silencer that you can put on your revolver. This is not going to negate all the noise the weapon makes but it will allow you to take out most enemies from a distance without alarming other enemies in the area.

Learn Stunning Early

Stunning is a very important skill that you can get pretty early on in the game. This will help you knock out enemies. Since you will not be killing them this will not impact your psych bar.

This will also allow you to loot the enemies that you put to sleep which you would have missed out on if you chose to avoid them instead.

Do Not Rush Because Of The Timer

If you are playing the game for the first time then you might be tempted to rush the game because of the mission timers. The campaign countdown is forgiving and daily tasks are going to pop up again.

They are grindable so you do not need to worry about completing them as fast as possible. Play through the game at your own pace and enjoy it.

You Can Use The Build Feature During Missions

You might think that building is exclusive to your base but that is not the case. You can use it during missions in order to set up traps and craft different items such as healing items, ammo, and gas masks.

Get The Lockpick To Open Doors

You can craft the Laser Cutting Machine at your home base which is going to allow you to create the Industrial Grinder. You can use the grinder to get a lockpick which you can use to open locked doors.

You will want to get access to these doors as soon as possible as you can find resources and weapons behind them.

These are some of the tips and tricks that you should keep in mind when playing Chernobylite. May these carry you through the wastelands.
