Civilization Reign Of Power Turns Civ V Into A Mobile MMOSLG

A new Civilization game is in the works but not by Firaxis. Civilization Reign Of Power is announced today and is developed by Nexon Korea and Ndream, based on the Sid Meier’s Civilization series owned by 2K.

Civilization Reign Of Power is based specifically on Civilization V, one of the most popular entries of the series to this day, but Ndream will be adapting this to mobile as an MMOSLG (massively multiplayer online simulated life game)- an MMO strategy game in other words.

Elements of Civ V that will be retained include the development of civs through the ages of history, and victory conditions like Domination, Science and Culture.

But in Reigns Of Power, you can expect to form an alliance with other players, and partake in large-scale PvP gameplay, something you would expect from a mobile game.

“While Civilization: Reign of Power inherits the core identity of the original Civilization, such as development of civilization through the eras and attributes of its victory conditions, certain new elements exclusive to the new game further add to the fun and enjoyment,” said Yong-Seok Seo, assistant general manager of Nexon’s Live Publishing Dept.

“We have collaborated with the strategy-simulation experts at Ndream, with an aim to provide the best possible experience. We hope that everyone is looking forward to the game.”

Ndream has previously worked on other strategy titles including Pirates of the Caribbean: Tides of War, CrossFire: Warzone and Uncharted Wars: Oceans & Empires.

Little else has been shared together with the announcement, other than this teaser site.
