Coventry City vs Blackpool Match Analysis and Prediction

Coventry City will play host to Blackpool on Tuesday evening, with the visitors looking to continue their impressive run of form in the Championship.

The hosts enter the fixture off the back of a 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on January 29, while Blackpool won their last game 3-0 over Bristol City.

Coventry saw their FA Cup journey for the 2021-22 season come to an end on Saturday, as they were defeated by Premier League side Southampton 2-1 after extra time.

They currently sit 12th in the table, five points outside of the playoff spots, but they have three matches in hand on Preston North End directly above them.

The Sky Blues have been absent from the Premier League since 2001 and they are seeking to challenge for a return to the top flight, and having exited the FA Cup, they now put their focus on the league for the rest of the season.

Coventry took a 1-0 victory over Blackpool when the two had an encounter in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Blackpool are heading into Tuesday’s match full of confidence, having picked up nine points from their last four league matches against Hull City, Millwall, Fulham and Bristol City.

The Tangerines were knocked out of the FA Cup at the start of January, and they were in league action on Saturday, pciking up a 3-1 victory over Bristol City, with Gary Madine, Josh Bowler and Chris Hamilton getting their names on the scoresheet.

Neil Critchley’s side, who came through the League One playoffs last season, last participated in the Premier League in 2010-11, being relegated after finishing 19th.

Meanwhile, Blackpool’s home form this season has been mixed, winning eight, drawing two and losing six of their 16 matches, while they have collected 14 points from their 13 matches on the road.

Coventry City news

Robins will make changes from the side that started against Southampton on Saturday, with Jamie Allen, Jordan Shipley and Kyle McFadzean in line to return.

Dominic Hyam and Jake Clarke-Salter could retain their spots in the starting XI, with Viktor Gyokeres likely featuring in the final third of the field.

Blackpool news

Blackpool do not have any fresh injury concerns, and Hamilton, Bowler and Madine should retain their places. although Owen Dale is also pushing for a spot for Tuesday’s game.

Jerry Yates came into the starting squad on Saturday and the forward is likely to retain his spot in the first XI.

Prediction and Odds

A victory for either side on Tuesday could move them closer to the playoff spots, but it is difficult to separate the two as they seem level on strength.

However, Coventry have lost their two most recent matches, and could want to bounce back, and we see a draw or home win.
