cowana have announced the addition of Denis “denis” Howell to their starting lineup. The 27-year-old is taking over from Armandas “maty” Kneita, whose contract is set to expire on August 15 with no plans for renewal.
This marks the team’s second shake-up of the roster in as many months, with the side previously adding the trio of Kevin “HS” Tarn, Ádám “kolor” Domoszlay, and maty back in June, going on to finish 9th-12th in their debut tournament at ESL Pro League Season 16 Conference.

denis has spent the entirety of 2022 thus far away from the game, with his last venture being his time with Sprout where he spent two years in what was his second stint with the organization.
The German’s time with that squad was mixed, peaking at 16th in the world rankings in September 2020, before slipping all the way down to 41st after bowing out of the IEM Cologne 2021 Play-In and almost being relegated from ESEA Premier Season 37.
Individually, denis was also unable to find his footing, only sporting a modest 1.00 rating over his two-year tenure, a noticeable drop compared to his more respectable 1.10 showing seen during his first time in a Sprout jersey from 2017-2019.
This run of poor form ultimately culminated in Sprout benching denis in September of last year, with the 27-year-old having been away from play ever since.
denis‘ addition to cowana also sees the German reunited with former teammate in Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend, with the duo having twice played together, back during their time under the Seed moniker before their signing by Sprout, and from 2014-2015 while under the PENTA banner before denis went on to join MOUZ.
“After one year I‘m back to competitive play,” denis says. “Took some time to reflect upon some things and think about some past decisions in my career and what went wrong. It was very clear to me, that I wanted to start with a strong organisation and a team I believe in. I‘m really happy to be back in the server soon and to try to improve together with my new team.
