Cronulla Sharks vs North Queensland Cowboys Preview

The contest of the week could very well materialise between the Sharks and the Cowboys in the Shire on Saturday night, and the second automatic prelim berth is on the line.

I expected them to be a top eight side, but I’m not even sure that Craig Fitzgibbon expected everything to come together so quickly and well for the Sharks. Nicho Hynes has been a revelation, but the remainder of the Sharks’ squad have also been fantastic, and I think they’ll win this and eventually, win into a Grand Final as well.

The Cowboys have also been nothing short of outstanding during their 2022 resurgence, and they too wouldn’t look out of place in an NRL Grand Final. They were convincing winners over the Panthers last weekend, but given that side had rested almost their entire first time, we can put a line through the game. Prior, their recent form has been decent, though a little shakier than what it was earlier in the season and through the middle.

Importantly, I’ve rated the Sharks’ performances noticeably better than the Cowboys’, and that leaves only one result for me.
