CS:GO: Tips For Defending The Bombsite

We go over some handy tips to help out next time you’re playing CT and defending the bombsite.

Although many CS:GO players play for fun, others want to improve, which is why they watch videos and read in-depth guides. For some reason, most of those things only focus on the Terrorists because they try to provide people with different tactics. Although those things are important, the CT side also has a lot of things people need to consider. One of them is defending the bombsites, as well as different areas on the map.

Learning how to defend specific areas on the map is not easy, even for experienced players. Aside from having excellent aiming skills, you also have to know how to position yourself and what to be aware of. This guide won’t cover everything, but it will provide you with a few tips and tricks that will help you be more successful.

Aside from playing, many people also bet on CS:GO, so make sure to read our CS:GO betting tips if you want to maximize your winnings.

Consider all possible situations to better prepare

One of the few things that many CS:GO players forget to consider is that this is a highly dynamic game. Most CT players choose a given position without thinking about all of the things that could happen. If the Ts don’t do what the player expects them to, the latter often has no answers and dies without killing anyone.

To avoid situations like these, you need to have a backup plan or at least know what to do in specific scenarios. For example, you may want to use your AWP for Long on Dust 2 and position yourself in a way that will allow you to make the most of it. However, if you don’t take into account the fact that players could come from short, you might die in seconds.

Another thing you have to remember is that good Ts will always use utilities like Flashes. You can’t always dodge them, but there should be cases where you can minimize the effect by looking in the other direction.

Lastly, we’d like to remind you that you must be innovative and try to switch your position and playstyle as much as possible. Good CS:GO players will get used to the things you do and use them against you. That’s why you need to be innovative and always come up with new ideas.

Sometimes you need to play aggressively

One of the common mistakes that people make when they are on the CT side is to stay static and wait for their enemies to come to them all the time. Needless to say, this is what you should do in most rounds, but there are some situations where you should play aggressively.

Unsurprisingly, your opponents won’t expect you to push when you are on the CT side, at least not every time. You can definitely use this to your advantage and win the round easily by killing at least two or three Ts.

The bad thing about playing aggressively as a CT is that you can’t do this all the time. In fact, this usually only works once or twice because the Ts will make sure that it doesn’t happen again. So, be careful when you decide to do this and what your team will get. You do not want to die for no reason because this will most likely lose the round.

Know when to switch to another bombsite

Even though CS:GO is a game that allows you to be innovative and come up with new ideas all the time, most people do the same things. For example, they choose the same bombsite on every map and use three or four positions to defend it. Unsurprisingly, some players get bored and lose focus, which negatively impacts their performance.

Aside from using different weapons, one of the things that you can do is to change your current bombsite. You may think this won’t impact your performance, but this is not the case. Sure, you might not be familiar with every position, but the fact that you’re in a new location will motivate you to focus and step up your game.

Communicate with your teammates

Besides the fact that the best players in the world have excellent aim and know the ins and outs of CS:GO, they are the best because of their teammates. Having good players by your side can make a significant difference in your play style. They will motivate you to give everything you got and help you when needed.

Sadly, we often don’t choose the people we play with, especially if we decide to play competitive games. Players who have reached the top leagues, such as LEM and GE, usually team up with people who know what they’re doing, which is why they communicate while playing. The bad news is that this almost never happens when playing with random CS:GO players in the lower ranks.

If you want to win and minimize the risk of making mistakes while defending, you need to communicate with your team. Even if they are annoying, this is one of the easiest way to win, so definitely take advantage of it.

Don’t waste your utilities

It is safe to say that the last tip applies to everything related to CS:GO. Whether you are a T or a CT that tries to defend the bombsite, do not use utilities for no reason because they can make a difference.

Throwing a random smoke might seem cool, but you waste money and an item that can block the entire enemy team from pushing. The same applies to your Flashes – only use them when needed and do not throw them for no reason because you won’t be able to re-take a given bombsite if your teammates lose it.
