CS:GO Tips to Help You Win, Even if Your Teammates Are Bad

CS:GO is one of the most popular competitive games in the world, and for a reason. Valve’s recent version of the game is the best one yet, which is why CS:GO quickly became one of the most popular eSports. Although the game is a couple of years old, thousands of players want to reach the highest rank possible, which is why they play all the time.

The bad news is that reaching The Global Elite is not easy, no matter how good you are. Besides playing against boosters, you often get teammates who do not know how to play. This means that the only way to win is if you carry them.

Since this is not easy, we’ve decided to share a few things you can do if you want to win most of your games. The good news is that tips should help you even if your teammates are not that good.

Focus on your game

One of the things that people typically do while playing CS:GO is to focus on other players’ mistakes. This is very common among players who are slightly better than the rest, but it doesn’t mean it is a good thing. On the contrary, focusing too much on your opponents’ typically leads to all sorts of players.

Besides the fact that people usually don’t care, the fact that you are criticizing them might make things worse. Some players get triggered and can ruin your game, whereas others will simply make you uncomfortable by spamming all chat.

To avoid any of these problems, the best thing you can do is to focus on your own gameplay. Do not pay attention to anything your teammates do when you are dead and try to carry them. Some people use the mute options so that they can focus, so feel free to do that if you think it will help.

Exploit the map

People who’ve played CS 1.6 can relate to this because some maps had tons of bugs. Even though this is not the case in CS:GO, there are all sorts of things that you can do to take advantage of the map and win, even if your team does not know what it’s doing. Of course, this usually works only if you are on the T side, but there are certain positions as CT that can also do wonders.

We don’t want to go into details because every map has a lot of things that you can do to make the most of them. You can learn more about them by checking out the numerous YouTube videos created by some of the best players in the world.

Learn how to use your utilities

Being a good aimer or an AWP player will positively impact your results and allow you to win most of your games. However, once you start playing against better players, you will need something more to stand out.

That’s why you should learn how to use the utilities in CSGO and make the most of them. We can go on and on about what you should and shouldn’t do, but every match is different, so your Flash, Grenade, Smoke and Molotov usage depends on various factors.

As you can probably guess, there are tons of guides that show you how to use your utilities. Once you go through them, you will know how to flash your opponents and where to smoke so you can catch them off guard.

Fill in the role that your team needs

Even though the roles in games like Dota 2 and League of Legends are much more important than those in CS:GO, the latter also has a lot of specifics. If you look at some pro teams, you can see that each player has a specific task. Some of them play as supports, but teams also have AWPers, lurkers, entry fraggers, and so on.

As you can imagine, you can’t really split the roles when playing with random people, especially if they are not good. Most of them have no clue that things like roles even exist, whereas others are aware but don’t care about them. That’s why it is your job to see what your team needs and make sure to provide it.

Even though choosing the support role is probably not the best idea if you are playing with people who are not as good as you, everything else can work. For example, most random matchmaking games lack an entry fragger because people don’t want to go in and die. This is your chance to shine and show that you are better than the rest.

Focus on the objective

The last thing we’d like to include here is that you should always focus on the objective, especially if you want to win as fast and easy as possible. Even though this seems simple and easy to understand, many people don’t focus on winning the round. Instead, they chase kills and often pay for their mistakes.

While it is true that securing as many kills as possible is highly satisfying, this won’t guarantee that you will win. However, focusing on the objective and planting/preventing your opponents from planting the bomb can have a massive impact on your win rate. So, make sure to do that in all of your games, regardless of the map and the teammates you’re playing with.
