Cyberpunk 2077 Has More Concurrent Players Than The Witcher 3’s All-Time Peak on Steam

The recent launch of Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners didn’t just bring new content to Cyberpunk 2077. The anime’s release and success has also gone hand-in-hand with a resurgence for CD Projekt RED’s RPG that has seen its player count rising steadily, with the game having been played by over a million players across all platforms every day for the last week.

And that player count is continuing to climb, it seems. As reported by @BenjiSales on Twitter, on Steam, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen an increasingly higher 24-hour concurrent user peak every day for the last seven days. It started at a peak of over 78,000 players on Monday (September 19), and has climbed to over 136,000 players on Sunday (September 25).

Interestingly, that means its current player numbers have also surpassed the all-time concurrent user count peak on Steam for CD Projekt RED’s previous open world RPG, The Witcher 3 (which stands at over 103,000 players).

CD Projekt RED is currently working on Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Libertywhich is due out in 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Stadia. The Polish developer has confirmed that it will be the game’s first and only expansion– though of course, it remains committed to the Cyberpunk IP in the long run.
