Death Stranding Is Coming To PC Game Pass August 23

More PC Game Pass games being added after the usual announcement windows? Yes.

It looks Death Stranding, Kojima Productions’ epic game about courier work, carrying a baby in a jar and connecting people in a post-apocalypse America plagued by the namesake Death Stranding phenomenon is coming to PC Game Pass next week.

Death Stranding features a lot of Hollywood stars including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner.

While the game IP is owed by Sony as a PlayStation Studios title, the PC version is published by 505 Games. The game was initially released exclusively on PS4 back in 2019, when Sony has yet to dabble into self-publishing their first-party games on PC like right now. And that also explains why the game is only coming to PC but not Xbox.

Death Stranding on Windows will feature ultrawide mode, photo mode, high frame rate, and “cross-over content from some very well-known franchises” (presumably the Half-Life and Cyberpunk 2077 content makes the cut).

Speaking of cut, this is not the Director’s Cut version of Death Stranding that’s being added to PC Game Pass. That version is a PS5-exclusive on console but available as either a standalone release or as a DLC upgrade for PC players with new additional content. 505 Games will have a community Q&A guide, according to the Xbox Wire post on the news, which should address if the Director’s Cut version will be available on the Microsoft Store or not.

Previously at the Xbox And Bethesda Showcase 2022, Microsoft announced a partnership with Kojima Productions for an upcoming game. The addition of Death Stranding to Game Pass seems like a prelude to what’s to come.

In total, from the official announcement of PC Game Pass games for the second half of August 2022, the classic games from Bethesda coming to PC Game Pass at Quakecon earlier today and Death Stranding, that’s a total of 14 games being added to PC Game Pass.

Death Stranding will be added to PC Game Pass on August 23.
