Dragonball: The Breakers asks the all important question “What if you weren’t Goku?”
Dragonball Z and its follow-up series’ have a pattern. A big bad guy turns up, pummels the good guys, who then have to lick their wounds. One of the characters, typically Goku, gets a second wind and they’re then able to come back and kick the aforementioned bad guy’s bottom. Sorted.
But what about the poor saps who don’t have Super Saiyan Power and couldn’t punch their way out of a paper bag? That’s where Dragonball: The Breakers comes in. This upcoming asymmetric multiplayer game casts one player as a Raider, one of the Dragonball universes big bads, and up to seven other players as the survivors who have to make good their escape.

“Please experience the excitement created by the overwhelming difference in power between Raider and Survivors which is only possible with Dragon Ball!”, states Ryosuke Hara in his video message. Apparently he’s never played Dead by Daylight because, barring the gore, that’s what Dragonball: The Breakers reminds us of.
However, there’s at least one neat twist. One of the survivors can transform into an animate object, giving them the ability to hide in sight. We don’t know if you can have more than one of the same character but we’d love an entire Prop Hunt style match where Cell or some other villain-of-the-week is roaming around just swiping at bins.
Dragonball: The Breakers doesn’t have a release date as yet, but it’ll be landing on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2022, developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco. There’ll also be a closed beta at some point – we’ll let you know when we hear more.
