The European Championship is set to be held at GG DreamHack Sports gaming festival on June 4th in Maastricht, Netherlands. Meanwhile, the North American Championship will be held in Montreal, Canada on July 7th

The competition will be held separately for each of the four consoles, namely Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5.

This marks the second edition of the event being organised by DreamHack Sports Games since the organiser entered into a multi-year partnership with the National Hockey League (NHL). Moreover, it is also the first time since 2019 that the tournament returns as an in-person event.

Since the introduction of MTG’s business unit in December 2019, DreamHack Sports Games has been involved in multiple sports simulation initiatives in Europe. This includes launching the European Tour, in partnership with the European Tour golf circuit, and entering a partnership with electronics retail company Elgiganten to support the eAllsvenskan and eSuperliga FIFA leagues

Furthermore, DreamHack Sports Games has also recently partnered with Dutch football league Eredivisie to host the GG DreamHack Sports gaming festival.

Esports Insider says: Based on its activities since the creation of the company, DreamHack Sports Games is visibly interested in developing the European sports simulation gaming scene, although the company isn’t just limiting itself there. For NHL, joining forces with DreamHack Sports Games was undeniably a good decision, as the partnership helps the competition increase its presence in esports.
