Droid Gamers: All We Know About Dragon Trail: Hunter World So Far

Dragon Trail: Hunter World is up for pre-registration on Android and iOS. That’s all very well, you may be thinking, but what the hell is Dragon Trail: Hunter World?

Fair question. Although Dragon Trail: Hunter World is a hit across the global East, it hasn’t so far made its way into Europe and America.

To get you ready for the launch of what looks like a highly promising mobile RPG, and to help you decide whether to click on that pre-register button, we’ve done a bit of digging.

Here’s everything we know so far about Dragon Trail: Hunter World.

Setting

Dragon Trail: Hunter World is a story-based RPG set on a sumptuous tropical paradise called Star Island.

It all starts with a young tribe member whose father has gone missing in suspicious circumstances.

While exploring the jungle in his father’s footsteps the boy gets into a skirmish with some savage beasts, meets a Fire Wythern hatchling, and comes into possession of a magical volume called the Book of Loyat.

With that, he’s plunged into an adventure that sees him exploring Star Island, gathering a crew of exotic pets, and battling with the evil dragons that are attacking his fellow tribespeople.

Plus, there’s the small matter of his missing father and the Book of Loyat, which we can’t help but feel are somehow connected. The boy must reveal the ancient text’s prophecy and uncover the mystery of his father’s disappearance.

Dramatic stuff!

Gameplay

Those pets are not just decorative. Dragon Trail: Hunter World is all about killing dragons, and your pets are a vital part of the mix.

You discover pets by exploring every corner of Star Island, and you make them more powerful by evolving them.

In addition, you can choose from four different classes, including Warrior, Priest, Ranger, and Shadowhunter. Each one brings its own particular strengths and abilities to the party, and the aim is to compile a Dragoncide Squad capable of taking on every challenge.

Dragon Trail: Hunter World also boasts a mentor-disciple system. This involves completing tasks for your mentor in order to earn currency to spend on gear for your squad.

Characters and Pets

The four character classes in Dragon Trail: Hunter World should be fairly familiar to RPG veterans.

The Warrior is a powerful melee fighter who can take a lot of damage and dish out even more.

The Priest is a gentle soul who protects and heals his party members, but isn’t much cop and defending himself or doling out the pain.

Thanks to the Dragon Trail: Hunter World Facebook page, we know far more about the other two characters.

The Ranger is a ranged attacker who uses a bow and arrow to pick off enemies from as far away as possible. She’s also skilled at collecting intel, apparently, and does particularly well in prolonged battles.

Plus, she can summon wolves, which is always handy in a scrape.

The Shadowhunter is your classic assassin class character, working for something called the Solar Temple.

Like the Warrior, the Shadowhunter is a powerful melee fighter. They’re also a master of disguise, though, sneaking up on their enemies and taking them down with a single blow.

We know less about the pets in Dragon Trail: Hunter World, but we can at least fill you in on a few of the species you’ll come across on Star Island.

The list includes Bluish Parrots, Icy Bears, gigantic Woolly Mammoths, and Fire Wyverns. As far as we can tell they’re all capable of evolving into three increasingly badass states.

You can see the Fire Wyvern in all three stages on Facebook.

And that’s pretty much all we know about Dragon Trail: Hunter World at this stage, aside from the obvious: it’s a visually stunning game with slick 3D graphics, a compelling story, and an intriguing tribal aesthetic.

Stay tuned for more.
