DRX in a Freefall, While Fredit Wins Their First Series LCK Summer 2022 Power Rankings Week 5

1. T1(9-1)

Another clean week for T1 going against one terrible team in HLE and one struggling team in DRX. Again the biggest story for T1 is just how outstanding Zeus and Oner are as they have been hard carrying this team for this whole split so far. If spring was the split for T1’s bot lane, summer is the split of the top half as these two players are putting up cases for being the best players in the world at this time.

2. Gen.G(9-1)

Gen.G had a more challenging week facing off against a really strong Sandbox team but they proved yet again that the LCK is a two-team race. After an insanely dominant game one they did show some weakness in game two but still showed huge prowess getting the 2-0. Gen.G has demonstrated the most dominant victories in the LCK this split but still has yet to overcome their kryptonite in T1 this year.

3. Liiv. Sandbox(7-3)

Sandbox saw their first loss since week two coming at the hands of Gen.G. This team led by incredibly strong play by Prince is leading the second group of teams in the LCK. They still have a lot to prove only having beaten one other high-level team. That being said their performances against the rest of the league have been outstanding and have shown more promise than the teams below them.

4. Damon Kia(7-3)

Damwon came into this split with some of the biggest goals in the LCK and they have continued to disappoint so far. 7-3 is a great record and they should be guaranteed to make the playoffs but have failed to show that they will compete for an LCK title. This week they need to prove themselves over DRX and in the future against the other top teams to rise on this list.

5. Kt Rolster(5-5)

KT is doing what they did the last split and after having some struggles to start the split they put Vicla in and the team just looks better. Yes the win against DRX was close and Vicla kind of inted a game but as a team with him in they look better. A super strong performance against another middle-of-the-road team KDF cemented that KT is rising in the LCK.

6. DRX(5-5)

Wow DRX has looked bad losing both series against the two telecoms moves DRX down two spots. DRX was supposed to be a potential Worlds team fighting for that last spot after their fourth-place finish in the spring but they have looked super shaky so far this split. They should heavily rely on Deft but they put him on Senna, Kalista duty. Pyosik is still a bottom three jungler in Korea and until they shift their game plan or have the other solo laners play better they are looking at best as a 5-6th seed.

7. Kwangdong Freecs(4-6)

KDF has four wins on the season against HLE, BRO, KT, and T1. One of those wins is not like the other and still shows that this team has the potential to be good. Their issue is just that they are one of the most disjointed teams I’ve ever seen. They drafted terribly. I mean game one against DK bot lane went 1-6 and they thought hey let’s run it back. They can be a super talented team but until they find some good structure I don’t even see them making the playoffs.

8. Hanwha Life Esports(1-9)

HLE has fewer series wins than the NS but during the season they have actually won more games in seven to Nongshim’s five. They have also taken games off of both T1 and Sandbox looking competitive in many of the series they take part in. They are close to putting it together and are just missing that last little oomph to start really competing for a playoff spot.

9. Nongshim REDFORCE(2-8)

NS suffered the most embarrassing loss of the split losing to bottom feeder BRO 2-0. I was tempted to place them last but having won two series is just enough combined with their team’s potential to keep them outside of the bottom spot. This team has so much talent but they utterly suck. They have only won a single game outside of their two series wins and have looked horrendous on the rift for the last number of weeks. I had high hopes for them to start this split and they have done nothing but disappoint all summer.

10. Fredit Brion(1-9)

Bring out the champagne cause BRO finally did it they won a series and did it 2-0 nonetheless. BRO lacks in basically every category with little talent and bad teamwork it seemed winning would be impossible but coming against an abysmal NS team and a bit of that spring season magic helped them do just that getting their first win of the split.
