Dundee FC vs Blackburn Rovers Match Analysis and Prediction

Blackburn Rovers will continue their preparations for the new Championship campaign when they take on Dundee FC in a friendly on Wednesday.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side will be competing in their 90-minute match of the summer, while their opponents will be playing their fourth game of the month.

Dundee FC currently find themselves going through a schedule where they are playing pre-season friendlies at the same time as participating in the Scottish League Cup.

On the friendlies part, a 4-0 victory at Peterhead was followed up by a 1-1 draw with Montrose, providing the recently-relegated team with some much-needed minutes ahead of a competitive encounter with Hamilton Academical.

Dundee FC cruised to a 3-0 victory in that contest, as result which has set them up to mount a strong bid for the second round.

A number of players were released from the club at the end of last season, but Tyler French and Zak Rudden have arrived from Wrexham and Partick Thistle respectively.

Meanwhile, with the Blackburn hierarchy having taken time to replace Tony Mowbray with Jon Dahl Tomasson, the club’s pre-season schedule did not kick off until the weekend.

Instead of playing the normal 90-minute encounter with Accrington Stanley, two 60-minute games took place, their opponents won 1-0 in the first before Blackburn prevailed in the second by a 2-0 scoreline.

Blackburn would have got what they required out of the contest, but the real work starts now with fixtures against Dundee FC and Celtic in quick succession.

Tommason is currently working with somewhat of a depleted squad with four first-teamer having moved on from Ewood Park only to be replaced by Preston North End youngstar Ethan Walker.

However, that is not likely to change over the coming weeks as Blackburn launch an attempt to mount a challenge for the Championship playoffs once again.

Blackburn Rovers news

Tommason should decide whether to stick to the teams from the weekend or mix up the two lineups from the 60-minute matches.

Of the team from the second game, Tyrhys Dolan and Ryan Hedges are most likely to be drafted into the squad, while Ben Brereton Diaz should keep his place in the team.
