Dying Light 2 Stay Human will take “at least 500 hours” to fully complete [updated]

Techland have announced that to fully complete all of Dying Light 2 Stay Human you will need to spend over 500 hours playing the game, five times longer than it takes to 100% Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “Most of the players who are in for story and side quests will be able to complete the game quicker, it will still be a solid experience though!” they add. “Story + side quests, if you’re not in a rush, should take you around 70-80hrs.”

They have compared the play time with amount of time it would take to walk from Warsaw to Madrid, causing a few people to point out that that journey may be infinitely more enjoyable than slogging your way through 500 hours of zombie killing slumped in a chair.

Update: Techland has clarified that this means finding literally every single morsel of content that they’ve put into the game, including seeing all the quests, game endings and collecting everything else. If you’re sticking to the story and side quests, you can have your fill within 100 hours. That’s still a huge undertaking, though.

The news has been met with mixed reaction, die hard fans of the first game seem to be happybut there are quite a few people have been put off by the reveal. “That’s a bit too much so will have to wait for a sale on this one and get Horizon or something else, 500 far too much,” reads one tweet, “No offence, I loved your previous games but that is a huge turn off. As a father of two kids I don’t have the time to sink into these huge time sinks,” reads another.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human was recently delayed and will now be landing on digital and physical stores on February 4th, 2022. This the second time the release date has moved, in January 2020 Techland announced that the game would be delayed out of its early 2020 window to allow additional development time,

“Dying Light 2 Stay Human is by far the biggest and the most ambitious project we’ve ever done. Unfortunately, we’ve realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it,” said Pawel Marchewka, CEO of Techland.

Given the game is 500 hours long perhaps they could have cut say, half of it out, and released it two years ago when it was meant to be out? Just a thought.
