Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal

image

Over 1.5 goals at 1.29 (bet365)

Since Crystal Palace were promoted all nine home fixtures against Arsenal went over 1.5 goals and seven of those nine games went over 2.5 goals. Over the last twelve months 18 out of Arsenal’s 19 away games went over 1.5 goals.

Fulham vs. Liverpool

image

Liverpool in the head-to-head at 1.29 (bet365)

Liverpool finished last season in 16-3-0 form and they beat Manchester City 3-1 in the Community Shield last week. Fulham finished last season in the Championship in 2-1-4 form. The Cottagers have made a habit of starting Premier League campaigns slowly. They opened their 2018/19 campaign with two consecutive defeats and they commenced their 2020/21 season with four consecutive defeats.

Tottenham vs. Southampton

image

Tottenham in the head-to-head at 1.36 (bet365)

Tottenham have gone 12-0-3 as the home favourite over the last twelve months and they have gone 9-0-2 in their last eleven home fixtures against Southampton. Tottenham finished last season on a three-game winning streak while Southampton ended their season on a four-game losing run.

Newcastle vs. Nottingham Forest

image

Newcastle in the head-to-head at 1.65 (Picklebet)

Newcastle have looked rejuvenated since they received an injection of new players in the January transfer window. They have since strengthened at the back during the summer. Newcastle finished last season in 6-0-2 form with those two defeats coming against Man City and Liverpool. They boast an unbeaten 7-4-0 record as the favourite over the last twelve months. I suspect Nottingham Forest will have a good season but with twelve new signings they may start slowly as the manager tries to impose his style and establish who his best starting eleven is.

Leicester City vs. Brentford

image

Leicester City in the head-to-head at 2.00 (bet365)

Leicester City went 8-2-2 as the home favourite over the last twelve months and they completed the double over Brentford last season. Brentford finished last season well but they weren’t able to convince star January signing Christian Eriksen to stay.

Bournemouth vs. Aston Villa

image

Aston Villa in the head-to-head at 2.03 (Picklebet)

Bournemouth’s promotion last season can be credited in part to their six loan signings, none of whom have returned this season. They have been relatively quiet in the transfer window and are most pundits’ pre-season pick for the wooden spoon. Manager Scott Parker has expressed his frustration with the lack of summer activity, saying “We need to work out whether we want to give ourselves a chance of being competitive this year. At the moment, that is not the case.” Aston Villa had the 10th best away record last season and they have strengthened during the summer.

West Ham vs. Man City

image

Over 2.5 goals at 1.60 (Picklebet)

Nine of the last eleven home fixtures for West Ham against Man City went over 2.5 goals and six of the last seven went over 3.5 goals. Last season City’s final eight fixtures all went over 2.5 goals and they have now added striker Erling Haaland to the squad. Over the last twelve months 12 of West Ham’s 19 home games went over 2.5 goals. Their final four fixtures last season went over 2.5 goals.
