The following are betting tips for selected fixtures in Gameweek 8 of the 2022/23 English Premier League.

This round features just seven matches. Brighton v Crystal Palace had been called off due of a rail strike and remains postponed. Chelsea v Liverpool and Man Utd v Leeds have been postponed ahead of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Aston Villa vs. Southampton

Nottingham Forest vs. Fulham

This is primarily a bet against Leicester City, who have lost five consecutive games. Defence has been their undoing. Five of their six opponents this season have scored 2+ goals. Tottenham have won six consecutive home games and they have won their last three clashes against Leicester City. Tottenham boast a 14-0-3 record as the home favourite over the last twelve months while Leicester City have gone 0-5-11 as the away underdog.

Over the last twelve months 15 of Tottenham’s 20 home games went over 2.5 goals. Six of Leicester City’s last seven games went over 2.5 goals and six of their last seven meetings against Tottenham went over 2.5 goals. The last three meetings between them went over 3.5 goals, two went over 4.5 goals and one went over 5.5 goals.

Everton vs. West Ham

Everton’s new-look defence has been tough to breach this season, but at the same time the Toffees have struggled to score goals. This has resulted in five of their six fixtures this season going under 2.5 goals. No visiting team has scored more than one goal at Goodison Park this season and Everton have failed to score more than one goal in a game this campaign. It has been a similar story for West Ham, who have been decent defensively but have struggled in front of goal. Five of the Hammers’ six games this season have gone under 2.5 goals. Six of the last seven meetings between Everton and West Ham went under 2.5 goals and three of their last four meetings went under 1.5 goals.
